Trying to get my .223 to shoot

I've been shooting 223 competition with a 24: super bull DPMS for 16yrs (over 9000) rounds using 23 1/2 grs at 100yds and 24 1/2 at 600 w/69grs. MAX load for the 80 gr is 2600fps you are way too fast. I shot a 194 benchrest target w 1/2 moa 10 ring just last week and then shot only five rounds...

    A/R problem

Hello; Lets talk Math (both monetary and ballistic) and time. Your builders time frame was plain crazy. Being a retired home builder, I could build you a fine home in 8 months by myself!! Money; I build AR's (mostly M4 because thats what sells) however my most accurate AR is a 14yr old DPMS...

    Your Best AR 556 Handload

Hey Greyfox, I too have the DPMS 1.050 24" barrel they are not much seen anymore. It is my AR competition gun, is 12yrs old, has over 7000 rounds through it, and still avg. .333. I use your same load only with 24grs Varget, I'm glad to see some are still out there. Good shooting; ART

Is there any other rifle in the .338 caliber that can compete with .338 Lapua?

No; not for the money. You can build on another caliber for a maybe, but do you really want to beat your dad with a superior gun (heavy gun for example) or do you want to best him apple to apple? You can always wait for him to get old and feeble, that worked on me lol. ART

    LR 308 in 18" or 20"

The difference in the Ziess mentioned is this: both have 95% light transmission, lifetime warranty price the same etc. The Nikon has 4X more power for long range shooting as you require and no scope caps to fumble with. I shoot NF on my AR's and my bolt guns but we are not talking about that...

I don't know what 20" you have but around 2700 fps is usually the accuracy velocity. 2900 is over max. good luck with that speedster. ART

    LR 308 in 18" or 20"

If this custom build is just needing a barrel to complete, I suggest a Pac-Nor barrel this is what Noveske uses and will save you $$ If the LR build is to be used at long range why not the DPMS 24" SS barrel? The complete rifle can be purchased for $1200.00 My 2 cents ART

Degrees Of Rifle Accuracy by Ian McMurchy

I realize these post are old, but recent or old, it seems the same rantings prevail. I'm 64 yrs old and have been shooting in rife comps for over 30yrs. " two 15" PISTOLS very good groups for a pistol .350 ALL DAY @ 100yds." Come on guy; our last year "shooter of the year" scores avg are as...

    The Over-Rated Crown

Sorry; ran out of room. That said; my crown is crap. However; I believe in a good crown being better than not! I have seen pics of open class gun crowns via a electron mic 400-500 and 600 power. They look like a old gravel road under construction at this power. But, still shoot great...

    The Over-Rated Crown

Hello; Very interesting info.; however, it seems to amount to much to do about nothing. One of my comp. rifles (DPMS 24" SUPER bull barrel AR15) shot in the 5's when new out of the box 13 years ago. I have over 7000 rds. through it as of last weeks 100yd competition. I shot 20 rounds for a...

    Field scoring Whitetail rack points

When a hunter wants to field score a buck, I figure its to pick the biggest one of many. When only shown one, I figure he would like to see if it would make the book; P&Y or B&C. Since the single buck shown is( typical) gross means nothing, net is what will get this buck in or out of the B&C...
