    Prayer Request ...

Prayers sent Feenix, with hopes he never runs out of airspeed and ideas at the same time. May God protect him....Got my son home 3 weeks ago. Those who have no skin in the game cannot fully understand the worried anguish. Mike

    Mauser 98 question

Travis1971, The mausers will shoot as good as any if set up properly. If the barrel is fitted to the internal torque shoulder and the trued action end, it makes for a strong set-up. Wouldn,t be inclined to chamber mausers in heavy magnums unless the action was specifically made for magnum...

    Mauser 98 question

Travis1971, Short answer is yes...Long answer is only if you have plenty of money or have the ability to do the work for yourself. My brother (who holds a few IBS 600 yard records) and I did an experiment just for fun to actually see if a mauser action could be competitive in 600 yard...

    Pressure signs

Looks more like your firing pin spring may be a little weak and/or excessive clearance around the bolt/firing pin hole. What kind of action/bolt? Usually overpressure shows primer flattening around the edges. I wouldn't push much farther or you might pierce a primer.

    SOLD/EXPIRED .416 700ML Smokeless Muzzleloader

+ 1 on Earnhardt being a "stand up" guy, he is also VERY knowledgeable about smokeless muzzle loaders. Helluva deal for someone wanting a very nice high performance smokeless muzzle loading rifle.

    Quiet Muzzle Brakes

Victor, Muzzle brakes are a bit like politics...many different opinions about an item that differs very little in noise generation and recoil reduction. Yes it is essential that the brake is installed as near perfect concentric with the bore as can be...that is a given. There is much...

    Just need an opinion.

Bishop, That first chamber did not look good and obviously wasn't. Smiths are human too and overlook things now and then. Just as JE Custom said, we strive to cut a chamber that shows zero blemishes but sometimes the tiny ring lines have a way of showing up after firing and then sizing the...

    338 rum

338 RUM is a good round, sure one can't get it to edge or lapua mag levels but for a remington long action un-modified it does well. I like 250 Berger elite hunters and my son has taken deer out to 950 with it. Mike

    barrel painting

cerakote or norrells and paint will stick much better if you will do a wash with MEK solvent right before you coat the barrel.

    any 6.5x55 fans?

Robster80, I don't post very often here so my opinion may not matter much. The 6.5x55 is a very good and accurate round and as stated previously, can be loaded up to some impressive ballistics if you handload. One thing to keep in mind though is that the cartridge base on the 6.5x55 is .480...

New Marine Reporting in from NC

Welcome aboard Marine. Thank you not only for your service to our country but also for the courage to have and raise a family. You are a "rare breed" of man in this day where many are too selfish to do what you are doing. There is a lot of information to be had here, enjoy! I salute you, Ike

    Action truing/blueprinting

In my experience not all Rem 700 actions are in need of blueprinting. In the production process, tooling wear and Monday morning causes some 700 actions to be less than good. This shows up mostly as uneven lug fit and non concentric end cut on the action. Threads are not usually a problem as...
