Travis1971, The mausers will shoot as good as any if set up properly. If the barrel is fitted to the internal torque shoulder and the trued action end, it makes for a strong set-up. Wouldn,t be inclined to chamber mausers in heavy magnums unless the action was specifically made for magnum...

Looks more like your firing pin spring may be a little weak and/or excessive clearance around the bolt/firing pin hole. What kind of action/bolt? Usually overpressure shows primer flattening around the edges. I wouldn't push much farther or you might pierce a primer.

+ 1 on Earnhardt being a "stand up" guy, he is also VERY knowledgeable about smokeless muzzle loaders. Helluva deal for someone wanting a very nice high performance smokeless muzzle loading rifle.

338 RUM is a good round, sure one can't get it to edge or lapua mag levels but for a remington long action un-modified it does well. I like 250 Berger elite hunters and my son has taken deer out to 950 with it. Mike

cerakote or norrells and paint will stick much better if you will do a wash with MEK solvent right before you coat the barrel.

Robster80, I don't post very often here so my opinion may not matter much. The 6.5x55 is a very good and accurate round and as stated previously, can be loaded up to some impressive ballistics if you handload. One thing to keep in mind though is that the cartridge base on the 6.5x55 is .480...

In my experience not all Rem 700 actions are in need of blueprinting. In the production process, tooling wear and Monday morning causes some 700 actions to be less than good. This shows up mostly as uneven lug fit and non concentric end cut on the action. Threads are not usually a problem as...
