One rule of thumb I like is to run the ballistic on your cartridge. Take the weight of the animal in this case elk 700 lbs multiple that times 2 gives you 1400. A safe recommended distance IMO would be wherever your cartridge reaches 1400 ft/lb

Barrel is 26" factory sporter contour I also have dies and brass that I will include $1500 Rifle will shoot the 300 Berger in the .75-1 Moa range. It just performed the best for me with the 225 AB ~150 rounds through the rifle

I have a rem 700 LH 338 UM for sale. Rifle was accurized by HCR, muzzle brake installed, Jewell trigger, McMillan A5 stock. Rifle shoots the 225 gr AB extremely well.

You may want to consider the .300 or .338 win mag as potential options. The .300 win would give you more options as far as bullet choices but both are quality cartridges capable of handling most if not all game out west.

I already have multiple rifles on the .338 platform and want to try something new. Pretty sure I can get more out of the 260 grain .375 than I can the 250 grain .338 I might be wrong that is why I'm asking if anyone has expierence with this round.
