I’ve had a 25-284 for almost 50 years, but built on a 722 action so couldn’t load those heavy for caliber bullets. Used 100 gr Barnes and never had a mule deer take a step. 4831sc pushes the Barnes well and the Douglas 26” tube groups them under moa. Great cartridge
I agree with the Barnes bullets on whitetails and mulies…used them for 39 years out of my 25-284. Never lost a deer and lost very little meat..then again it is shot placement.
I didn’t spend as much as your options.pdf lists, but I’m pleased with a Riton, Locking, laminated, FFP and so far the tracking has been good. Their 7 Conquer 3-18x might be worth a look.
I have used RCBS trimmer, Forester, but settled on a Lyman Express Trimmer. I still have the crank trimmers for backup but the Lyman lets me dial the trim quickly and it has good repeatability.
I have a Tikka, 300 WSM, and love it..but the twist in my barrel is a bit slow for the 200+ higher BC pills. Can’t beat the action for an over the counter rifle and it is accurate with 150-165 grain bullets. I have a couple of other rifles in cartridges that are not commercially available or...
I would give up on the 300wsm…maybe change loads. It is more than enough for any deer. I’ve used 150 gr set’s with good luck in 300 Savage and 300 WSM or 165 Barnes..always is good results.
As mentioned above, I’ve had neck cracking issues with Winchester brass in my 223 WSSM mainly the nickel coated brass, but none with my 300 WSM and Winchester brass.
