    Do Exposed Lead Tips of Bullets Melt During Flight?

    Have been told that bullets (with exposed lead tips) will melt from the heat / high-speed friction while going through the air. Is this true? If so, then the uneven or jagged exposed lead tips don't matter too much because they will melt during flight.

    Altitude & Temperature Effects on a Bullet?

    Best 30-06 Elk Bullets?

    Looking for advice on the best 30-06 elk bullets available. I'm not a reloader, but have 180-gr. AccuBond and Grand Slams in stock. Steve P.S. I normally short an inch behind the shoulder, but just in case - will the above two bullets penetrate an elk's shoulder and get past the vitals?
