    Do I need a 20MOA base?

and I will be the stick in the mud that says a 20 degree base isn't going to hurt you. At the upper range of that scope you are going to be knocking on the back door of optical limits. It would appear you have enough (+50 moa) half the 100 moa range, as I read it, but a 20 degree rail will keep...

03 A3 action - does it have potential?

I have an 03 - A3 action, of course in 06. Completely sporterized in a nice Fajen wood stock, devcon bedding. It is time for a new barrel - I am kinda done with the 30-06, so what should I go with? I don't think this can be made into a magnum, I don't know enough, so I figured I would ask here...

need help w/poor grouping- Savage model 11 Long Range Hunter 308

Start from zero - recheck all your mounts etc. I noticed a rifle I was working with a few weeks ago, my scope slid forward a touch in the rings. Check your action screws into the stock. If the rail is loose even a little bit, it will cause a shift all over. Good luck.

How would you set up a 308 Winchester?

This is a great thread. Thanks everybody for the input. I am a Varget guy and working on a .308 load as this is written. I think it is a little light for me to try elk at distance. I am comfortable with it to 300 yards. I would be comfortable with my .308 out out further for antelope or deer...

    What rings and bases

I just did a Vortex diamondback in 3.5 X 10 X 50 on my Savage 308. I went with a EGW base and TPS rings. I like the way everything went together. I like the TPS rings, pretty simple and straight forward set up. On that 300 WnMag, you could go with the EGW 20 degree (moa) base for some distance...

    Budget build idea......

I am in the same boat almost. Furlough days don't leave a lot of spare room financially and I wanted to hunt again so after a few years off and playing the AR game. I had a bunch of free bee .308 rounds and a couple boxes of Barnes X & Sierras leftover from loading a 30-06 years ago. I got a...

    New to Forum

I am in agreement with LRickle. I have been in the 5.56mm game for about 10 years and neglected long range stuff. I can take a 5.56mm/.223 out to 400 yrds comfortably and regularly. Going longer - I recently picked up a .308, ammo is reasonable, data is plenty and I need trigger time. Wind is...

    New from Northern Arizona

The part of Arizona where is snows! I am at 5000 ft. East of Flagstaff. I am trying to get drawn for something, but for those of you living here or in states where hunting is by a draw - you know how it is. Found this site after looking at SWFA and looking for a new scope. This looks like a...
