I have a CVA Optima and was wondering about shooting Parker Match or Hunting bullets in it. Does anyone have info on this combination? I can shoot up to 150 grns of powder. Looking to extend my range and accuracy on deer this fall.
Thanks,

What you need to know......... the MH is made to shoot in muzzleloaders with much more velocity than you can achieve.

Its outstanding for paper but, unless you're shooting a smokeless muzz and at high velocity, it won't expand properly at the lower velocity you'll be shooting. Bob doesn't even list a BC for the bullet unless its a 2,800fps. You can verify that with Bob Parker himself. If its a Parker you're after, the BE will be your better choice for the velocity you can achieve. With my Ultimate, I can get about 2,350 to 2,400fps, using 180 to 200grs or, 100grs weight of BH, and while talking to Bob about it he said its to slow. He recommended the BE instead. Bob Parker also owns two Ultimate Firearms rifles and ONLY hunts with the BE.

Look over the posted velocity here: Match Hunter Muzzleloader Bullets Even with my Ultimate and shooting a max 2,400fps, I'm very near the bullets minimum suggested velocity for optimal expansion. Use the contact information and call Bob and ask about it.

Good luck

I'm going to try the Hornady fob 350 grain grain in my accura v2 long range when I get it. See what that big old bullet can do at 300. Probably have to wait till I get my long range scope to see what it can do from 300 but 200 yrds shouldn't be a problem. The ballistic coefficient is. .285 really high so it should be a really good bullet.
