Can't remember right now what the screw size is for the bases of a stock Remington #8 or #6? Does anyone make a two piece base for the Rem 700 that uses the larger screw to bolt to the action? I know custom rails come with the larger screw, just not sure of the two piece.
Thanks Guys

#6 is standard but nothing can use #8's unless the receiver itself has been re-tapped. #8 screws aint about to go easily into a #6 threaded hole

The Remington I have had been opened to the #8 screws, it has a 20 MOA base (not a rail) which I don't need for my short to medium range hunting. Not sure why the screws were opened to the #8 as I bought the rifle used but unfired. Just want to change it as the front rings don't seem very tight when the front ring is twisted in.
