Thinking really hard about ordering up their Extreme Weather model in stainless chambered in 260 Rem.

Does anyone have any experience with their production rifles?

Thanks for your help.

I know a guy who had a 308 and was pleased. They are just a quiet builder.....don't go crazy on marketing. He loved the action and felt there was a lot of value for the money. I have read columns from picky old writers who appreciated this company.

Montana rifle company have made so many varieties of rifle. I collect one rifle from the montana rifle company.

I do not have experience with their production rifles but I do have a full custom 338 RUM build on their model 1999 action - a Model 70 clone. That rifle will put 4 into less than 1 inch at 200 yards so their actions have the potential to shoot well. I also have had to have work done on the action and they have good customer service. I spoke with the president of the company directly and he took care of my issue without charge.

lightbulbHave you tried the custom search on the top right hand corner?lightbulb

Respectfully, as I know I am not a frequent poster here, I am well aware of how to use a search function, but I wanted to hear about recent experiences as these guns are relatively new to the market in their production formats. I have had recently had a terrible experience with a new to the market manufacturer, Forbes Rifle LLC, where I had to return two successive guns due to brutal quality control issues.

You are always free to ignore a post if it bothers you.

Not trying to be an a__hole, but I always wonder when people have to post that. It's a forum.

Have a good one.

I have a MRC stainless 1999 in a .308 custom hunting rifle. Very solid, smooth action. Have had no issues with it. Shoots very tight groups, no feed or extraction problems, trigger is smooth. I am buying another one shortly to build a new rifle with no reservations.

I just had my hands on a few Forbes and they look like crap for 1500!

No offense taken. You'll be surprise how many members don't know or don't take the time to learn or use it. More often than not, I find what I am looking for in the custom search. Just trying to encourage to utilize a very useful tool in-place.

Sorry to hear on your troubles with Forbes. I saw a couple of displays in my local Scheel's and they seem to be of good quality rifle.

No problem. Most threads about Montanas are about bare actions that were rough, bt designed to be finished by the gunsmiths doing the work.

If you take those **** Forbes apart, you will see what I'm talking about. 24 hr campfire has a thread on Forbes that is now at 56 pages. My post is on p.19

I just bought a rifle built on their action, I know of a couple of others first hand, all have been first class actions. A local smith has done a few builds on the action, and is favorably impressed. I have been Interested in a rifle, but their website continues to be unavailable. Might have to just show up at the shop.

Yikes, thanks for the heads up ... a friend was seriously looking at one earlier this month ... will have to refer him to the thread.

I have a 300wsm that is brand new and I haven't been able to shoot it yet. Spoke to the guy before I bought it. Nice guy full if I do about their guns and the feel of the gun is nice. If I ever get a chance to shoot it and break the barrel in, I'll let y'all know how it shoots

Warning! This thread is more than 10 years ago old.
