UPS Problems

I have been working on my first rifle build for a little over year saving up and getting all my componets together. According to UPS tracking yesterday it was on the truck for delivery. I get to my FFL yesterday afternoon gitty with excitement to unbox my new masterpiece only to find its not there. I just figure the truck is running late so I tell him to call me if it comes in. Well this morning I check my tracking and it says the delivery is rescheduled to Monday. So I call UPS to see whats up and at first they want tell me anything, but I finally get someone to tell me that the package is in Vancouver Washington. Now I live in Louisiana and the day before it said the package was here on the truck for delivery. They tell me that there was a mistake and the package got routed to Washington some how. Well I look up to see if I can get in touch with the UPS hub in Vancouver to see if they could explain whats going on, and low and behold the 1 800 number I called is located in Vancouver Washington. I don't know how they could track the package all the way here and then it end up way up there in a few hours. I really feel like they are just stalling me cause they really don't know where the package is. Has anyone ever had a similar experience or have any advise for me. I am feeling so let down and hopeless right now. Even if they do refund all of my money it will still be a year at the earliest before I could build another one.
 
I sent a package to California from Texas and after it got lost, they found it in Illinois.

Hummmm, Texas to California via Illinois. Go figure.

I would just chill out, it probably was out for delivery but got sorted to a pile going to another hub accidentally. It's a good sign that the delivery was rescheduled which means they know where it's at and where it should go, if it said delivered you'd be screwed!!!

Yeah that is as bad as Michigan to Louisiana via Vancouver Washington.
I am sill hopeful but they told me this morning it was on a truck leaving Vancouver but it has still not updated on tracking.
 
Never had any issues with UPS. But USPS sucks (especially at updating their online tracking info), and Fed-Ex managed to somehow brake a 1-ton brake rotor I ordered in a disk brke conversion kit. Tell the how in the holy hell you break a 1-ton brake rotor... But apparantly their loaders are so special, they sure found a way...:rolleyes:

USPS is improving. Tracking is entirely dependent on manual input, However, having said that USPS is the least expensive carrier for offshore shipments. Everything 'lands' on the same aircraft in a foreign destination do why not the least expensive.

As an aside, I've shipped hundreds of packages USPS, worldwide, without one issue. That includes China, South Korea, UAE and Soviet Union.

The worst carrier for screwups is DHL with Fed-Ex coming in second. 'DHL' Dumb and Hopelessly Lost.......:D

I will say (because I personally know) that the sorters at UPS use packages for basketball practice.....
 
My favorite is when I ordered a scope and it went from Wisconsin to Oregon to Idaho where I live. All I could think was wouldnt it be easier to just drop it off on the way to Oregon lol
 
Another reason to go USPS. Well, at least until car thief Darrel Issa succeeds in shutting it down. Then you can send a letter by UPS for twenty bucks by way of Vancouver.
 
Keeo in mind that UPS and USPS goes hub to hub, however, USPS has 10 times as many enf distribution outlets (local post offices) as UPS so with UPS, it may 'go by your house' but it can't be delivered because it's on abig truck and not a delivery truck.

Why is why UPS uses 'Ready Post' where it's sent (original shipper) but delivered by the Post Office. So does Fed-Ex as well.
 
Don't matter who you use, they all have issues. I had Fed-Ex simply toss a package containing a new M&P pistol over the fence in my FFL's front yard.

I think that guy wound up unemployed by the time we got done raising hell about that incident. :D
 
Ups package uses bread truck style vehicles. UPS Freight (LTL) also known as ground freight uses straight truck and short pup style trailers for deliveries. Even though still say ups on the truck they are completey diff divisions. Check to make sure that your package was sent out on ups Brown or ups freight. I am on the ups freight truckload division it could be mixed up with the ups freight division there tracking of freight is completely different. I can imagine a worst case scenario on this. Hope you find it. Pester and bug them till it is found
 
Well I have been bugging them about everyday and they keep assuring me it is on its way. I'm a little concerned because tracking has not updated since Friday when it supposedly left Portland Oregon. I asked how could they scan it and say its on the truck for delivery and the very next morning it across the country. He told me they don't always scan the package but the truck it's supposed to be on. So I asked him when was the last time the actual package was scanned and he told me in Illinois the day after pierce shipped it. Then I asked how in the heck do they know it went to Washington. Then he says hold yeah the package was scanned in Washington and Portland. Idk if he was lying or not. It is supposed to be here Thursday so we will see.
