If the Kimber rifles have the same finish as their pistols, STAY AWAY!
I have a Kimber Pro TLE/RL II .45 that I carried everyday for a year in an IWB holster, and put it up for a month in my safe, and when I pulled it back out to clean it up and oil it, it had rusted itself shut. *** finish on a $1,300 pistol... I have debated on calling Kimber to tell them about it, but I figured it would do absolutely no good, because they'd just refinish it with the same crappy finish so it would rust again. I'm going to have it cerakoted black so it never rusts again.

YES THEY ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any cooper rifle comes with a factory accuracy guarantee, 1/2 MOA. To the best of my knowledge, kimbers do not. Right after a rifle is finished, a scope is attached and test fired. The test group is signed, and attached to the rifle. I fully understand the price being a shock. I'm not a wealthy person. Not evan close. But a Cooper rifle is a wonderful experience. I doubted for years how nice they were until I ended up with one. I own close to 40 guns, and my cooper is one of my favorites. I have come close to getting another one but family things change your priorities sometimes.

Dont believe all you read in the funny papers. I still have 4 Kimber pistols here and they are cleaned to the utmost every time they go into rotation and I have never ONCE found even a speck of rust on any of them. All of mine have had different mods done to them...even installing the 22 rimfire kit and just leaving it installed..
A firearm is no better than the person shooting it or the person cleaning it!

Sully...This is MY personal weapon....I can show you in person, if you don't believe me. Are you really calling me a liar?
I also have the Kimber .22 conversion, and it doesn't even cycle right...There's a burr on the chamber that catches the slide and won't allow it to drop back into battery.
Kimber's chstomer service and quality control is junk when they switched the 2nd Generation pistols. The first gens were perfect.
I can show you another Kimber that is rusting it's life away, and that belongs to the rangemaster at my locsl shooting range.
Don't call me a liar, or call my gun care skills into question... That's just not cool man. A weapon designed to be carried everyday should be alot more rugged than that. Also, stainless steel is supposed to be STAINLESS.

I had the same problem with my Kimber .22 conversion on a Dan Wesson Bobcat. I had to file off part of the slide to get it clear a part connected to the frame - the ejector, I think. I think Kimber should have designed the magazine to keep the slide open when empty. Overall, I was disappointed, given the price.
I'm glad I went with a Bobcat Commander when I scratched the 1911 itch. Normally, I carry a Glock.

Yeah, the .22 conversion has not impressed me in the slightest. The sights are goofy and clunky, the slide doesn't even function right. I have debated on sending it back to Kimber, but I'm afraid they'll just screw it up more.

The Cooper is definitely a better investment than the Kimber. I have read almost zero negative reports about Coopers. There aren't any production rifle makers that have as good a rep as Cooper. Kimber on the other hand has a lot of very disappointed customers. There are a lot of happy Kimber customers, but there are also a lot of unhappy Kimber customers. Not so with Cooper.

The price increases are shocking. But I still think Cooper is the easiest(therefore cheapest) route to an accurate field practical hunting gun.
That is, this side of luck, which I don't have a lot of!
The Coopers also hold their value well, but it won't matter to you because you won't let it go anyway.
Don't forget the scope (another sticker shock). Put a worthy scope on your Cooper.

Totally agree with MontanaRifleman and MikeCR. I had the same decision to make about 5 years ago. Did a search very similar to what MR suggested. I went Cooper and was thoroughly impressed. I now have several. No regrets.

I know stainless steel can rust...Depends on the grade. I am a metal fabricator by trade.
