I just picked up my new 280 AI from Nate a few weeks ago. I've only shot 8 rounds to break in the barrel. Hopefully, it warms up soon so I can get some brass fire formed and some loads worked up.

Buid Specs:
Rem LA Trued
PTG bolt
Brux #4 9 twist @ 26 inches
Holland lug pinned
HS Stock
HS bottom metal
Shilen trigger
Talley Rings
Leupold VX3 4.5-14x50 w/ M1 turrets

I just had a very similar spec'd 280 AI built, with almost the exact same scope too. Mine has a 26" straight fluted Bartlein barrel and even though its a lite hunting rifle, its shooting 1/4" groups at 100 yards with the 168 gr LRABs over 59 gr of H4831. Can't wait to get it out for some long range validation as soon as this snow melts off.

What kind of speed are you getting? I plan on starting with H4831 and 162 Amaxes for deer and 168 Bergers for my Wyoming elk hunt next Oct.

Nice shooting!
I worked up some loads last weekend and I starting seeing pressure signs at 3K(61.5 gr. H4831, 168 Berger touching the lands, Fed 215, Rem case). 60 gr was right at 2975 with no pressure signs and ES of 7. I'm going to play with the seating depth and see if I can get it shoot a little better.

The rifle is shooting really good with both Amaxes and Bergers. I loaded up 21 rounds which consisted of 7 different loads and put all of them in a 1.4 inch group at 100 yards. More to follow.

I'm loading 59 gr of H4831sc under a 168 gr LRAB, seating 50k off the lands, shooting through a 26" Bartlein and getting 2950 fps. Shooting well under half an inch at 100 yards.Three loads on the Nosler brass and they are holding up well. Saw no need to load any hotter.

Yeah, 59-60 grains is where I seen low ES. What primer are you using?

CCI large rifle. Some of my friends like the magnum primer even in non magnum rounds, but again, with results like I'm getting now, I don't see a reason to change...and I've got a brick of these CCIs to use up.
