What to order 16 or 24 pounds of r-33 powder. Looking for a dealer who will order at a good price. I don't care if it takes 6 month or a week just would like to know i will get it. I was told that Norma 217 was the same powder does any one know if that is turn. Thanks for info Joe PM me if you know a dealer that would order it for me.

The online vendors are going to get it more frequently than local vendors. I check them on a regular basis and just ordered (8) 1 pounders from Butch's. Haven't seen any 8 pounders in a while.

Bruno's is taking back orders

If RL33 is slower, and I think it is, than RL25, it will be quite a bit slower than Norma 217.
217 is not quite as slow as the powder it replaced, MRP2.
What case are you loading?

Thanks MR, that's my take also. Why has no one stuck RL33 & 50 on a burn rate chart?

I suppose they haven't got around to putting 33 on a chart yet since it is relatively new. I called Alliant a while back and asked them how they would rate it compared to Retumbo (which I was using in my 300 RUM) The guy I talked to said it was about the same as Retumbo in burn rate. Well, it is a lot slower than Retumbo, about the same as 870.

RL50 is on this chart which I think is a better chart than the linear list charts.

it takes on the order of 100-102 grains of rl50 in my 300 rum to equal the speed generated by 95 grains rl33 with the 225 hdy match loaded at 3.650" oal. I'd say rl50 is very similar to aa8700/ wc872 in burn rate but as a stick it doesn't get so crazy when it hits the wall.
