308 Norma brass ND to 7mm Rem mag???

Hello,

I have a good line on some 308 Norma brass, can anyone tell me if it would be much trouble to neck them down to 7mm rem mag? I realize you can neck 7mm rem mag up and 264 win or neck down 338 win. I have been looking at the case dimensions and they are quite similar, with the Norm being slightly longer.

Do you mean 308 Norma Magnum brass ?

Or 308 Norma brass down to 7-08 ?

If you are going to do this run the cases thru a .338 Win . f.l. first to start to form the shoulder.
Then run thru a 7 mm Rem die .

Don't set the shoulder back more than .002 from your chamber.
Measure this with a gauge when setting up the dies.
Use a case fired a few times for a standard.

When Norma makes the cases in the process they are reamed inside the neck.
So if you form to a slightly shorter case a step will be apparent on the outside of that neck.
Anneal this area with a candle and then run thru the 7 mm fl die again .

Then lightly neck turn to aprox. .0125. and trim to length.

This is best done on un fired brass.

You can easily make .308 Norma brass out of .300 Winchester.
