McGowen Barrels ??

Thinking of buying a pre-threaded McGowen barrel for my Savage 243. Have no experience with this company. Can anyone comment on the accuracy of McGowen barrels?

I have one on a Savage Model 12 in 300 WSM. It is a 26" bull barrel. Shoots really well and cleans easily. No complaints. I am thinking or getting another one for another Savage.

got a pre fit mcgowen in 6.5x47 lapua and for the price it cant be beat. Shoots great. Ordered it from mcgowen outlet. It was at my door in a week.

just finished 6.5 x 55 on Rem. 700 with Mcgowen bbl, 26" stainless sendero contour. shot .368" 5 shot @ 100yd. should do better with more load work.

As stated in the above quote, it really cleans easy help me say easy...

Mine is a 28" for 338 Edge or 338/300 RUM, as many know is the same
cartridge with different names. Savage 110 action. Not only its easy to clean but from the prone position using Harris bi-pod it's a solid under 1/2 MOA shooter.

Got a picture of the gun and group? I was thinking of building a similar rig this Summer. What kind of velocities are you getting?

I've used over a dozen and they all have been solid 3/4 moa or less in every rifle. I use them exclusively for the quality, the value, and the customer service. Buy with confidence.

I've only ever heard 1 negative comment (was from a smith, if I recall). It had to do with slight differences in bore diameter, lot-to-lot, and also within lots. But not any within a single bore. Take that for what you will, as the REAL test will be how tightly it groups the shots. My own testing will commence this coming week, following super sunday. It took a bit over 3 months to recieve it, once the order was placed, back in october. By comparison, that beats out hart by about 6 months, and by about 200 bills (finishing costs included). I went "pre-fit", with the "remnut" feature. This means that it goes from them to me, and then from me right on to the R700 action. No smith, or smithing, is needed! I do apologize, as most of those who do read this RB&B forum probably ARE smiths.

The barrel is SS [as is the nut], with a bore of .284 (7mm), chambered for ultramag, and having a twist of 9. Length is 32", muz dia. is 1.2", and crown is non-recessed target.

I'll chime in again, after some papers with holes in them become avaiable.
