I'm currently waiting on my 28" 308 bull barrel which I plan on topping w/ a 20-30moa base and sightron 10-50x60mm. While I wait I'm shopping for rings. What height will work? I have read med will work but I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks.

BTW, this is going to be used for f/tr out to 1000yds. I am hoping to be shooting berger 215 or 230's, if I can find them.

It's going to depend on exactly what rail you use. I use the EGW and NF 0 MOA rails and Low TPS rings work on all of my 50mm OBJ scopes just fine.

I'm looking at a Ken Ferrel base. 20moa maybe a 30. I like their design and hoping it will add a little more rigidity to my savage receiver compared to other bases that are cut out. The Ferrel has a "spine" running through the bridge. I don't know how else to describe it.

But I'm open to suggestions.

Ken makes a very good product. However I'd encourage you to look at the EGW heavy duty. It's very stout.

I have one on a 300 Rum and another on a 300wm. They both more than get the job done for me.

Also, unless you are planning to shoot well beyond 1000yds I see no reason to go with that much cant. A zero or 10 MOA rail should be more than adequate.

The more cant in your rail the higher the rings you are going to need to have the bell clear the barrel.

I'm almost certain I'll need at least 20 moa. Not only to get to 1k, but also to utilize the better part of my glass over more distance between 300-1000.
