What are you using for scope covers on your 56mm scopes? In the past, I have used the Butler Creek flip ups, but over the last couple of years the quality seems to have really declined on them. If possible, I'd like to find something like the Leuplold aluminum flip ups, but I don't see anything that will work on a NF scope. Any suggestions?

I use the rubber bikini that comes with them. If I want I can put a nylon tie wrap od black tape them to the tube to keep them while shooting. But I usually just toss them aside. Probably not much help but I prefer it over a cheep plastic flip up.

As far as I know, there is nothing out there better than, or even like, Alumina Flip-ups.
They are nice.

Will these work on NF scopes (specifially the ATACR)? It looks like they are threaded on the ends and would have to be screwed in...is that correct? If those will work on any scope, then I agree, and would order some today.

No, recent Leupold scopes are threaded for them. And Leupold will thread their earlier scopes for them.
I have three Mk4s with them(one sent to custom shop for threading).

It's unfortunate that other scope makers don't seem to care about field practical covers.
I think you're out of luck, and Butler Creek is best choice for you.

I was hoping to find something besides the butler creeks also. NOTE NF!!!! Make a set of aluminium flip ups real nice front and rear and charge us accordingly.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
(I wish these were milled billet, but then you'd be looking at probably 250 +)
I've got a set of these coming from Jon at Aadland Engineering and hope to give them a full video review real soon...but if you wanna snag some now, I see no reason why these aren't the crème de la crème. Right now, he only has them listed for the F1 on his site...but he has a thread on SnipersHide where he is requesting objective sizes...so just email him and ask. Looks like he either has done or will be doing one for the ATACR

to give you an idea what the aadmount covers look like , I did some modeling for Jon . these are for a NXS 50mm .

this is a NXS 56 . the 56 cap was not available at this time , but will be . the 50 and 56 have the same size eye piece .

C_Bass - thanks for the data!! Thats exactly the type of product I was looking for. Basically a beefier Butler Creek design.

Jim - thanks for the pics.

I noticed in the "hide" thread that there were a number of folks already requesting covers for the ATACR - I'll call and find out today if he's got them.

Sorry more info, they dont look a $100 beefy. I dont run caps 95% of the time because they cost you shots. But I like scope protected in rig or extreme. I have destroyed most hiking in alders,so usually just use a screw in cap for bad snow.I also dont always have clearance as many for a over thescope type.

These are well designed caps.

I guess value is determined by customers wants/needs.

Much better design than BC.

The last pic is the factory caps that come with mk 4's, for comparison.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm really interested in purchasing products that

have that little stamp on them, in the second pic.

Something about American ingenuity I'm willing to pay a premium for, vs. made in china....YMMV

I don't see any difference between them & Butler Creeks.
But look at the stamp on an Alumina, and consider that these are not plastic copies of someone else's product:

Alumina® flip-back lens covers feature powerful neodymium magnets to hold them securely closed and triple O-ring seals for maximum protection from the elements. Their machined-aluminum precision construction, quick and easy operation, and a low-profile position when open make our flip-back lens covers stand above the rest. The round objective models are clockable, so you can rotate them to open any direction. Available in a variety of sizes for both eyepieces and objectives.
