Deadly Precision Gunsmithing?

How is he for holding to his delivery dates?? I have had some really bad experiances in the past ...........................Having been told four months that turned into one year!!! Had to borrow a rifle to use on a long awaited Antelope tag.....................unacceptable...............If you cant trust someones word you cant trust anything else.

He did some work for me and my experience was very positive. I would not hesitate to use him again, in fact I would love to have him build me a complete gun. He did complete my job in the timeframe that he originally told me.

He built me a rifle last year, I supplied the parts and it was just what he said it would be. I also found out when I ordered my barrel from Bartlein that they really are 6+ months out. I wonder what quality of barrels guys are using that say they can get them done quicker, unless they preorder.

I would recommend calling him and seeing if he can meet your needs, understanding that this is a holiday weekend. Lorenzo will do a great job for you, he is a great smith and has a passion for his work (your rifle). If you are looking for a rifle for hunting this year I would put the ball in motion no matter who you go with as I am sure you have heard about some of the manufactures lead times. Best of luck on your project.

I had to join and warn your members of dealing with Lorenzo. Why here? Because I read positive reviews about him on this forum and it convinced me to go with him.

Here is my timeline. On July 14, 2012 I sent a signed contract and $2795 deposit to Lorenzo For a 300 win mag. The contract said completion time was 4 months. On July 30, 2012 I bought and shipped him a 5x25 night force scope. In October he said he was waiting a few parts. In December he said it would be ready by end of January. In feb 2013 I offered for him to return the scope and money and he said he wanted to complete he build. In July 2013 he said my gun was next. In September 2013 he said he was almost done. In October and November he has stopped answering my emails. Now he is silent.

I have documents to back this up. I am now searching for a lawyer in his area. If anyone else has been scammed by this guy call me. Robert Beasley. 8504329818.

This is very sad if it's true. Joel, did you read this?

This saga reminds me of the issues many had with Chris Matthews of Longshot Rifles in MO. Chris was a stand up guy, I made him a pile of stocks for his builds, then he started to slip. Took money and parts from customers, then closed his doors unexpectedly.

We have many talented people in this industry, but few that actually really know how to run a business. As time goes on, and business grows, their weaknesses are exposed, and the business part of the equation puts them under.

Extended delivery dates are one thing, but not communicating is a whole different issue, especially if you have money and/or a customer's parts. BATF controlled parts throw a monkey wrench into the situation.

Personally, I have had issues with extended delivery dates. My experience over the years has been that most will understand if you communicate those issues. Key word....communicate.

I wish Rastaman luck in his endeavors, and look forward to see what transpires in this ordeal.

Well put Joel. Running a business as an ongoing concern is a necessary skill and communicating as well as financial management are equally important in the mix. I hope this resolves itself with a nice rifle delivered.

Ok here is an update. First I have received 4 pm's from people with the same bad experience with Lorenzo. I contacted the sates attorney and they had me do a consumer fraud report. Then out of the blue Lorenzo emailed me and said the rifle would be ready in ten days. I told him if he would deliver the product I would be man enough to publish he resolution. Well guess what. Today is the18th day so I emailed him. I didn't bother him in between and I haven't bugged him every week or every month as has been suggested.
Today lorenzo says he wants me to send another 955 as the final payment. I replied that I couldn't look myself in the mirror if I sent him more money on blind faith but I would give it to my FFL and they could send it upon receipt of the gun. He would not accept this suggestion and has now said he is selling the rifle and will send me the scope and my money back. I firmly believe there is no gun. I am moving forward with the criminal complaint.
I know this is a tough crowd and I get it. I have hunted Africa 5 times and alaska a few. In may I'm going to kodiak for brown bear if I get a draw permit. I have many (wife might read this!) guns but wanted to get into the long range sport. All I can say is don't be a fool like I have and order a custom gun from some guy you don't know, no matter how many forums he is on. Notice he is silent? My name and number are in the very first post.

Rastaman,

I feel bad for you. Having a established third party/FFL handle the final transaction certainly seems fair, reasonable and wise considering the circumstances. If he sells it, he'll have to do it under an alias.

Good luck with your situation. This is yet another reason I use Dave Bruno. I've given him parts and a few hundred bucks to start. He sends me an invoice with the rifle for the remaining balance. 5 builds for me, 2 for a friend, and none of this extended time bullsh_t and lies about due dates. Oh, and he's working on #6 for me right now.
