300 win mag 180 nosler ballistic tip loads

rl22, h-1000, or 7828 will all work great here. I've gone to lighter bullets in my 300win and heavier in my 300rum, so I don't shoot many 180's anymore.

Federal brass, tula mag primers, 72.5 gr. Reloader 25 just touching the lands nets me .25 moa @ 100 from my Savage Trophy Hunter XP. Gotta stretch it out and chart the drops before January for my cow elk hunt.

Sorry to quote myself. The above load is for the Nosler 180 gr Etips.

That seems real low on the grains for RL25, i'm currently at 79.5 grains in my rem700 sps with Berger hunting vld bullets and have seen no pressure signs yet seated .035 off the lands. But with .25 MOA that's real good.

The Etips are monometals and long for the weight. 72.5 was at the middle of the node when ladder testing, and at 75 I was loosening primer pockets. I am closer to your loads with Berger 185 hunting VLD's. I believe that Nosler states that with the Etips you should consider the middle load in the manual as the max. They definately make me think I need a brake, at least for bench work.:D With only one pound of RL25 left and none to be found, I may have to try and work up something similar with IMR 7828 since I have a small stash of that.

Out of curiosity have you chronoed your 185grn Berger loads? I'm wondering what kind of speeds I should be getting with these loads.

I have not. I usually calculate based on drops shot. I need to get out to the 1000 yard range, but I have not had a free day to devote to it yet. I should manage to get there before the end of the year,

When I had a 300mag I used
R22 76 or 77 grains- max load with Nosler BT going 3080fps out of Remington Sendero. That was my main hunting set up for many years, I took a lot of game with that combo.

My load consists of 81gr of RE25 in either Rem, Norma or Win brass, WLRM primer. Velocity in a 26" tube hovers around 3160fps.
Have also used 75.5gr of RE22 in above brass, but was very heat sensitive.

Cheers.
