i am seriously considering purchasing a new lazz 7.82 warbird from lazzeroni. what has been any of yall"s experience with this gun? i like their advertised ballistics with their 168gr matchkings but their ammo is high and i dont reload but could probably talk some of my friends into reloading for me. also looking at 300rum any advice or insights would be appreciated . i really like the lazz. but just want to make a good decision

I have a buddy that has two of the warbirds and he loves them. He is getting really good performance out of them. You are right, the ammo is very high if you buy factory ammo. If you reload it isn't that big of a problem. Depending on what you want to do, the 300rum might do everything you want to do.

+1 on the 300rum. You could spend half the money on a full blown custom, have a rifle that shoots just as good, and it would be more of your own creation. I personally do not have any experience with lazzraroni, so I am not down playing their rifles quality or accuracy. I am baseing my opinion on the the fact that my custom 7wsm from RW Hart, and the 338 wsm I'm having Kirby Allen build me as we speak, will both outperform my own abilities (I'm pretty confident in Kirby's abilities, or my lack of!!!!) and are **** fine quality to boot, for less than half the cost your talking about spending. And that's without even talking about ammunition. If you don't reload yourself, stick with something you can get off the shelf in a pinch. That way you can still tune the rifle in with hand loads, but you also won't be relying on a "buddy" to come through for you and load up some shells every time you need some more. Or, better yet, learn a new hobby and start reloading yourself. That's how I got into reloading. I went out and bought a 30-378 and then had to buy bullets for the **** thing! Wish I knew those wern't included in the price:D only took me a few boxes of factory loads at $80 a box, to realize that I would make a pretty good reloader myself, and save alot of money to boot:cool: good luck with your new rifle either way. AL

I love the Warbird! I had one built. Their gun is twice as much as a custom. Their barrels are schnieders, so I went to him and had him do all the metalwork on the gun. Then went to Mcmillan, bought their stock and had them bed it. What a shooter. The warbird is a blast! In all fairness, I have the 300rum also. Lots o fun but not the performance.

1/2 the price

I would look at custom build and take the other half the money and buy my own reloading setup and supplies and enjoy the new gun, and Buy another barrel for it when that gets shot out!

If it is the fact that is a Lazz then just go for it and do not look back. But if your looking for the best bang for your buck I think you could do better by calling a couple gunsmiths that frequent here. They do impressive work!

I have not experience with a Lazz, so take what I say with a grain of salt. You know what the say about Opinions!:D

Good luck--Either way you will not be disappointed.

even back in 2006, the only thing they could pick on the Big Lazz for was the price ? ,,,,, I am just amazed at how long some of this this has been going on ,,,,,

maybe I work too hard and don't spend enough time on the internet ,,,,,

First off it was 2008. Secondly, you're right! How dare they tell this member the truth! These members are all right, your rifles are more expensive than most customs. Not 1 of them bad mouthed your rifles or cartridge design, they were just giving this guy options.

If you can't handle reading the other side of the argument about your rifles, then don't read threads that don't praise your life's work the entire time, then don't read them.

I can't handle reading someone's opinion about the war in Afghanistan that that talks negatively about what my Brothers and I went through, so I do myself a favor and stay away from discussions like that. Apparently you need to do the same.

x2. Ripping the people on this forum is never going to help you get any business either.

To the OP, if you can afford to have a Laz rifle, the cost of ammo should be the least of your concerns. Basically, if you can afford the rifle, you should be able to afford the ammo. Although, as has been mentioned, two boxes of ammo would pay for an entire reloading setup instead, so something to think about.

Fixed.

Mr. Lazzeroni is a business man in this country and I don't understand why he gets ripped all the time for the cost of his rifles. If you don't like them or can't afford them don't buy them...no one is forcing you.

Yes, you can get custom rifles for less money. So buy one. I don't know him and don't have one of his rifles. He uses top quality components and I'm guessing they shoot pretty good. No one can deny he wasn't an innovator and brought high velocity to another level, risking his own capital to boot.

Completely understand that and have no problem with it. However, if someone asks about his rifle and a person states that they are more expensive than other customs, that is simply stating a fact. No need for Jon to get upset about that because, it is indeed a fact. I do give Jon credit for apparently listening to those people who have said his rifles are expensive and coming up with a lower priced option.

Discussion forums are where things get discussed.

I just sold my Sako TRG chambered in a Lazzeroni Warbird. I had that gun rebarreled with a 1/10 twist barrel, it wouldn't shoot larger grain bullets very well out of the factory barrel. As far as sheer performance, that gun just flat knocks your socks off. (in a good way) I have never shot the actual Lazzeroni built gun, but I can't imagine it isn't just awesome. I ended up going with a .300 win mag for my new LR gun, wondering if I made the right decision. The Lazzeroni brass got to be pretty dang expensive, and I was just kind of over the huge magnum thing. Although, that thing just absolutely pummeled every animal I shot with it. Obviously, If you are seriously considering buying that gun, you have the financial means. I say let er rip. You won't be disappointed.

I want to thank all of you for your criticism AND your compliments ,,,,,,,

as one member stated, this IS a forum where things are discussed ,,,,,,

if a Lazzeroni rifle is in YOUR future, it will be because it is one of THE BEST available ,,,,, not because of price ,,,,

and when you look at the new Lazz L2012LT-MTLR, with it's 10 twist poly barrel, and other great features, this is a whole lot of rifle at a very good price ,,,, see Lazzeroni Rifles ,,,,
