Weatherby mk V

I have a stable of Remington 700's, a Browning A-Bolt II, a Weatherby Accumark, and several other brands of rifles.

I don't own crappy guns, abd I still have all those rifles, so...That oughtta tell you something. However, I always have, and always will be partial to the Rem 700 action.

I have a Mark V, 3 Vanguards, 3 Remington 700, 1 Model 70, a couple Mausers and more.

My favorite action is the Mark V,

I own four Mark V's, .257, .270, 300 and30/378. Wish the prices were less, dies and components were easier to find, but I am addicted to the Weatherby calibers, actions and classic style. They all shoot VERY well with hand loads.

Yep, a Mark V Deluxe in 270 Wby Mag. It easily beat the accuracy guarantee right out of the box with 3 of the factory loads I tried..130 sp, 140 bst and the 150 sp. Shoot nothing but hand loads now and have no issues finding sub-moa perf from several combos. Pretty impressive to get that kind of accuracy from such a high intensity cartridge.

Weatherby's aren't for everyone, but for the person who is looking to gain an extra edge in performance and also appreciate the quality and strength of the Mark V action, they're hard to beat. I find most people who turn their nose up at Weatherby typically have never owned one.

From opening day this year..

I have found this to be true, for the most part, around my area, too. Everyone I know who owns a Weatherby and handloads for one (due to Wby ammo prices) loves the rifles. The folks who tend to gripe and complain about them, are usually just mad because the ammo prices are double that of standard calibers, and they hate paying to feed it.

Would you own a Weatherby mkV as a hunting rifle?
As for I will just keep my old Springfields and my Remingtons.

I own two or three (memory is shot). I also have owned many other brands in the past, and some I still own. My two favorite hunting rifles without a second thought are the MK. V and high end Winchester Mod. 70's. I know some guys that goto Africa every year for lion and cape buffalo. They take new rifles every year, and always take two MK. V's as back up guns. I've seen them go with Remingtons, Winchesters, and Weatherbys, but in the end there's always a Weatherby with them.
