The AMERICAN RIFLEMAN came a few days ago and I found an interesting artical by
Bruce Towsley, he had a Rifle built for him by using a .300 ULTRA MAG having it necked to
fit a .35 calibre bullet the numbers on velocity and energy at the muzzle was impresing.
It will push a 250gr bullet at the muzzel at 3100 fps and a 225gr bullet to 3200 fps.
and it is flatter trejectory and has more energy at 300 yards than most standerd calibres on the market as of now.
He calls it the .358 UMT. It sounds like another wildcat thats to soon to be to good.

It's not a bad idea, however the high BC bullet choice of the .338 will still naturally be the choice for long range until the .358 gets some additional high BC love.

I read the article about the 358 UMT. I think that, from a pure killing power stand point, the 358 has some serious merit to it.

I played with the 358 STA for a while, 225's @ 3100-ish. BC's in the .35cal really suck... but in the <1000k arena, it would still be a serious hammer.

Ditto, bullets suck, but impacts are impressive.
