I'm getting my final tune on the 140 Cutting Edge bullet in my 6.5 Sherman Short so I though I'd keep a thread going through hunting season to show the performance of this sweet little 6.5 and also the Cutting Edge bullet.

Rifle specs; Savage Model 12, Benchmark 1-8 twist, B&C Varmint stock that I slimmed and painted, Vortex HS LR 4-16x44 optic.

Chambering is 6.5 Sherman Short, parent case is the 7 SAUM which is pushed back and blown out to 40 degrees with a little less taper. Running a 3.010 COAL with this bullet, Berger Hybrids seat at 2.890.

Bullet is the 6.5 140 gr Cutting Edge bullet running 3188 fps with a BC of .280 G7, I've been getting excellent velocity number from my Magneto speed which has been proving to provide solid numbers for several rifles. The BC is what I worked out earlier in the year and worked well this fall but is certainly matched to my optic so it's not a solid number.

So those are the specs, got 2 elk tags, 2 deer tags and 2 wolf tags, going to let it rip and see what happens gun)

Results from today doing a final dial in, I found the velocity and seating depth I wanted earlier but wanted to tighten it up a little more so I loaded a primer test up and also tried deep seating the band into the case neck, the results were very evident! Fed 210's were the winner and seating the band into the neck was not good.

Took the best of the best and loaded up a good batch to get a velocity and start tuning up the ballistics. Zero'ed the rifle at 100 yards, got my velocity and punched the new data into Applied Ballistics, only had 4 rounds left so I wanted to see what we had to a 1030 yards then save the other two since I have two wolf tags.

Put everything into the solution with a 7 mph full value left wind and as the picture shows, two hits a couple inches high of center inside two inches will definitely work

is certainly matched to my optic . .

so it's not a solid number? ---- I don't understand whatcher saying?

I'm about to make the jump to CEs in the 375, maybe, I hope, priceeeeee....:)

Well, when we shoot drops and use our dial up to come up with the BC any of value tracking in our optic will show up in the BC, my tracking is dang close but still not the same as an other guys.

Hmmmmm...

So this year it's Dueling Sherman's!

BNG,

I'm really looking forward to your results, thank you! I hope Dan & the boys over at CEB are treating you right

Looks to be coming along nicely! Keep up updated.

Have you tried any with IMR 7828 SSC? Maybe a slow powder might help gain some FPS and who knows...Might can get a really accurate load out of it.

I have yet to talk to anyone at CEB on the phone but just emailed back and forth a little, everyone seems cool, we'll give em a run and see how they shake out and document the results best I can!!

Mud, I can push the velocity more if I wanted to, I'm only a few grains from crunching powder as it is and I have ran slower powders but with the 140gr bullets the H4831 speed seems about right. I can normally get good accuracy from 7828 but it does swing with the temp which can become an issue here.
