Best long range scope for buck

I am looking at variable scopes for longer range hunting but don't have a Zeiss-Swarovski budget. I want to be able to zoom at 300yds and out without covering my target. I am not sure what to get for top end magnification and get the most bang for my buck. I would like to keep it under $700 and still have good clear optics. Any opinions? I am shooting a .300wsm.

Zeiss arent as $$ as you think. Buy a "demo" and you'll love it.

Kentucky windage for the most part but there are timed when I have the opportunity to use a range finder

Vortex has a newer scope they call the hst that is the scope I would buy for the money. We use a ton of vortex on lots of different rigs and have never had an issue with ant of them. Best value in optics out there.

I would also go with the Nikon monarch. You can get the 6x24 in your price range. I have that scope on my 257 wby.

What's your max range? If it's under 500 yds, then you may be fine with 10X to 14X on the high end. What type type of terrain do you hunt in?

Max range is pretty much unlimited but realistically 500yds. I hunt an old abandoned railroad grade in a forested area

+ 1 on the Vortex i use the pst on my riffles and i love them... The clarity is right up there with top dollar scopes, they have zero stop and turret clicks are accurate and repeatable. The warranty is a great piece of mind too, although i have not had to use it yet...

Get a used Burris Signature Select. It was the scope that defined Burris before Beretta bought Burris. Made in the USA. Vortex, Sightron, Bushnell Elite, Weaver V-series......all are Japanese made by OLW and are OK scopes and I own one of them. The Burris made in USA scopes had optics that punched far above their class as far as price goes. Remains to be seen what Beretta will do with the brand now that they own it, but if you buy used scopes then check out Burris made in USA.
