Opening evening high country buck. Lots of open terrain but spotted this buck feeding alongside a mudslide at 113 yards. Taken with a 308 Win using a 178gr Amax. One shot kill went about 20 yards. Not much external blood but massive internal damage. This was a big bodied deer with lots of fat = heavy pack out.

Nice buck. That buck has quite the gut! He's been summering nicely. Cant wait til my turn at it. Idaho general in 17 days!

Never seen deer as fat as these. We have had a wet summer with lots of feed. Rangeland was in excellent condition. Had about 3 inches of fat over the hind quarters.
