Yep some idiot actually thought they could pull it off wit a bow in the city limits.

Illegal shooting of trophy buck in Bend under investigation by Oregon State Police | OregonLive.com

Sucks that it happened at all. At least it wasn't the drop tine buck I posted a picture of a couple days ago. (This will curl your hair thread) It was the smallest of his buddy's. The three bucks are so well known around here they are actually dubbed "The Nosler Bucks" because of where they hang out, right next to the Nosler Bullet co.

Guess you gotta be a special kind of stupid to think you could pull that off un noticed around Bend.

There's gonna be finger prints and epadurals (or whatever ya call it ) all over that arrow if it can be found.

Saw the local pics etc.
Buck was shot Way back, just in front of the right hip (entry), & exited behind liver on left. (Off side) Didn't appear to hit anything vital. Strait up gut shot. Arrow still sticking out of the deer before officer dispatched it the next day.

If that wasn't bad enough, all the granola crunchin', Birkenstock wearin', tree huggin', incense burnin', hemp sportin' long hairs around Bend, & surrounding areas got more anti hunting press for free.

There used to be a wood molding place right next to Nosler. Delivered there few times when I was running flatbed. Used to go to nosler and look around in show room while I was getting unloaded. Hope they find the jerk and hang him by his marbles with the arrow he used.

Usually they get off .....................Out here we have a really nice Elk heard that every year hunters or some jackasses coming back from a frustrating hunt kills a huge Bull right off the road, last year someone shot a nice 6x6 that would have goine 366
Our wardens don't spend much time going after Game thieves but all the Meth labs that are all over the state's outback. Not to mention the Mexican Drug Cartels that have Pot farms all over the hills....................Right now if someone has less than 100 plants not one cares.

We need to realize somting here, and face facts our country is being invaded and our Local, Sate, and Federal Gov are doing NOTHING about it..................Just wait when some Illegal sticks a AK in your face because while out Deer hunting you walked into his pot farm.

Its time we take the law into our own hands.......................just like the wolves, shoot to kill to hell with the laws

A non issue with me. I usually have something in my pocket as well as a rifle. Hint, it's not a woody.:)

Respectfully..... A Grey Man you are not. New here, but I'd rather not see this site decline into a forum where radical militant thoughts such as this are posted on an open forum.

ha ha got a good chuckle thanks man :D

Thanks to my wife's CSI addiction, I think it's "epithelials" that will be all over that arrow...

An "epidural" is what women scream for in the delivery room while in labor ha ha :D
(ask me how I know...)

Everyone is pretty fast to turn on a possible fellow hunter that has done nothing wrong, based on simple speculation of an internet article. Those of us that have hunted for years know how far a wounded animal can travel once shot. We all hope to have a quick humane kill, but things can happen. Archery hunting is probably more guilty of wounded game, rather than dead game, than any other way of hunting. Just because someone speculates that this animal was shot in city limits doesn't mean that it was. Without facts (arrow found in city limits, eye witness, confession, or something else), it's all speculation. I know that you are guilty until proven innocent now of days, but come on guys. Is it impossible that the guy was hunting perfectly legal (it happened right in the middle of archery season). The guy makes a bad shot on the edge of city limits, the deer knows its injured severly, the deer runs to town where it feels safe (people said that it was a common occurance to see it in town), the deer is found wounded in town, and everyone immediately screams foul play.

My dad shot an elk within city limits here in Page, Az. After it was shot, it died. If you look at those simple sentences and you speculate, my dad was a gosh darn stinkin poacher. BUT wait............. My dad was contacted by game and fish (since he is the local vet), and was working with game and fish to humanely euthanize a bull elk that wouldn't stop coming into town. The elk was shot with a dart to put it to sleep, and then was disposed of by game and fish. My dad did blood tests and other things to see if it was sick, or had rabbies, or other things. Now when you hear the full story, it's a completely different story.

Now don't get me wrong, everything I have just said above is also PURE speculation on my part. So before we all jump on the "let's hang him by his nuts" wagon. Think for a second that this could be just a simple exagerated internet article trying to paint a different picture than what may have really happened.

Now if evidence comes into play that says this was poaching, and something indeed was done illegally, I'll be the first one to bad mouth the idiot, and expect a severe punishment. But until then this is simply a story of speculation, nothing more, nothing less.

First
I understand sticking up for sportsmen. I wanted to clarify that.

Now,
If you took the time to look into the story, you'd know that there were 3 big bucks that lived within a block or two of Nosler Bullet Mfg. inside the city limits of Bend. Thus, they are affectionately known as "The Nosler Bucks". They have been there all year. The one who was POACHED almost always slept in a local guys(not the Poacher) driveway next to his fence & bushes by his yard. (Which also happens to be where the gut shot deer returned to after being hit. This home owner called the police, & you've read the story from there.

If you were local, you'd know this.
If you were local you'd have seen the bucks around town.
If you were local you'd have seen the gruesome pictures of the gut shot deer.
Hard for a guy from Arizona to speculate, in the name of defense for sportsmen, when you've only got a portion of the story.
Like Paul Harvey says:
And now you know the Rest of the story...
Kinda of flip flops the "hang the poacher without a trial" bandwagon & puts it back in your court huh. Defend the poacher, cause he may have been a sportsman.

Not being rude, but sometimes sticking up for a noble cause, without having the facts, turns one into a bleeding heart do gooder, with good intentions, that just clouds the water, & brings grey to a black & white situation.
Best to get the facts Before starting in on a noble cause

My point exactly. Everything I said, was speculation. It's speculation on both sides at this time. Before trying to hang him or make him noble, the facts have to come out. From the list you gave, it does indeed sound more like a case of poaching. But until some hard evidence comes into play he's neither innocent or guilty.

I have 2 ?'s.
1) is season even in?
2) is it possible that the city limits are close enough that he could have legally shot it while it was off foraging?
