Weight difference in Flutted BRL

Im looking at getting my rifle re-barreled ...........right now it has a 24" #4 and was wondering how much of a differece there would be between the #4 and a #4 Flutted, not sure what the different kinds of flutes that are offered.
Also would anyone know if there is a MB out there that would be almost the same diameter as a #4 barrel. ?

If you want to reduce weight, straight flutes will take the most metal off the barrel (= reduce weight the most). Interrupted flutes, spiral flutes, etc are more for the "cool factor" looks, though they do reduce some weight. Just bear in mind that removing metal will never make a given barrel contour "stiffer" as some internet experts will claim. EG a #4 contour that has been fluted will weigh less than an unfluted #4, but the unfluted #4 will be the more ridged of the two barrels (hope that makes sense - its a bit convoluted when I read it).

As for the muzzle break, my main criteria would be effectiveness over aesthetics. For that reason I prefer a "slab" style break which will always extend beyond the lines of the barrel contour.
