Went out today to try shooting some long distance today. I have never shot 1200 yards and beyond until today. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about the wind in the short amount of time that I was out there. I started off at 1000 yards just to see where I would be hitting. Kestrel showed 3 mph of wind coming in at 220 degrees. Punched it in and let the first shot fly on a cold and clean barrel. Hit pretty much in the center of the bullseye! I was pretty excited so I moved back to 1200 yards and got set up. I have never shot this far before but was pretty confident. Shooter showed that I needed 29.4 MOA of elevation and 1 MOA left for wind with a 1.5 mph wind coming in at 220 degrees. I hit half way in and out of the 10" orange circle in the center of my target. I was getting pretty excited now. I moved back to 1300 yards and set up. Shooter called for 33.2 MOA elevation. I got settled in and pulled the trigger before I was really ready to shoot and it went way right but still hit the target. I go settled back in and fired 4 consecutive shots which looked really good. I went and measured them and the group measured 4.8"! I was really happy with that! So I got bold and jumped back to 1780 yards. That is when the humble pie was served in large quantities. I shot the first shot and thought that I had hit my 24"x24" plate as it was rocking back and forth a little. I fired again and it went right, third shot went low and then I quit. 0 for 3 at one mile haha. I am still very happy with the results that I had from the first time firing at those distances. 1st shot at 1300 yards: I pulled it and it is the hit furtherest right on the target.
