I've got a brand new CZ 550 Magnum 416 Rigby action lying around. Has anyone built a long-range rifle on one of these actions and what accuracy can one expect out of them? I was thinking of building 338 Norma Magnum. What futures of the action makes it less accurate compared to a custom action like a Stiller? Can this be overcome and how?

Wow you have a few questions. I believe the CZ action is a double square bridge Mauser design. I don't foresee you having an issue at all, considering the length round the action was intended for. All actions weather custom or factory will need some work to make them square. Its a misnomer to think that just because an action is custom that it does not need any work.

ICANHITHIMMAN thanks. The reason for the question is to firstly learn and to understand the reasoning behind their thoughts:). Based on that I will surely be able to make an informative decision on whether I can use the action to build a LR rig that will deliver the required accuracy for effective long range hunting. Most guys just say yes or no without explaining why and that just keep you on wondering.
With work on action, I assume you are referring to trueing to get it square?
Perhaps someone with CZ H.E.T 338 Lapua experience which is willing to share? They also use the CZ 550 Magnum action?
The action is a double square bridge design. We use them exclusively on backups on dangerous game over here given their reliability and robustness. We get reasonable accuracy out of some of our factory rifles.

I have wanted a CZ 550 with a hog back stock in 375 H&H forever! I have not seen many cz here on the site at all. I have spoken to a few of the smiths in regard to why a we don't see more Winchester M70s with CRF actions being used for builds? Good luck and hopefully someone here has build up a CZ and I just missed it.
