Need some load data advise. Gun has about 200 rounds down it. Do to 180 piece of once fired brass owner just loosing a hand full he said. He has tried Horn.,Fed.,Barnes, black hills, and HSM. He tried federal SP 100's and got 2.5" groups. Rest around 1". But he stated the hornady superformance 95gr. Shoot 1/2" and the other 95's following behind. Hogdon does not list a 95gr. Superformance load. I'm thinking trying 105 A-max or Berger 105 but looking for advise and ideas. I stock kegs of Varget win. Supreme 780, and magpro.

So, first thing to realize is that you cannot buy the superformance powder that is in the Hornady 95gr ammo. I have 8lb of superformance powder in the reloading room and it is not the same thing...
However, you can buy 95gr SST bullets. I have been loading with Hodgdon H100V powder and so far I have been very happy with it. Right now I can tell you that you will not get 95 or 105gr bergers to group out the factory barrel, since it cannot stabilize them. In the factory barrel, the 95gr SST or possibly an A max is going to be as heavy and as high a BC as you will get.
I replaced my barrel with a 1:8 twist Shilen match barrel and I can now shoot the 95 and 105gr Bergers just fine. My chamber is now an ackley improved so I fireform with the 95gr Berger and then load 105gr VLD's in the fireformed cases.
For whatever reason with the 243 the ball powders seem to dominate. Highest velocity is a 3 way tie to Win 780, 760 and Hodgdon H414. The Hybrid H100V is right on their heels. So far it has shot very consistent for me and it was more readily available in stores than most of the other powders. I am using regular CCI 200 primers, since I could never find any magnum primers.

I think most factory 243's are going to be a slow twist. Those heavier pills may not work well for you. I think maybe the LRP is a 1/9.25. Faster than a lot of them but like has been mentioned a 1/8 would likely be better.

The 100gr soft point type bullets will probably not be too bad in fact. But forget about anything over 80gr in a VLD type format with a long skinny nose. They will go downrange but the grouping will be lousy and if bad enough they may go through the target sideways...
Ok I'm just not getting why savage would make one of their premier target rifles and not put a barrel in it that is made to shoot long range bullets. The LRP in 6.5 creedmore when the reviews came out had one of the most accurate tests seen in a none custom gun. And the 243 in the same gun is not in the same league.
i won the first 1000 yard match i ever shot in with a remington 700 with a 12 twist barrel. , i was shooting 87 and 88 grain bullets. the twist rate is not everything. by getting all i could out of the only target rifle i had, made the difference.

In my savage with a 9.25 twist 243 I shoot 95 berger vld. they group under 1 moa at all ranges and will give a nice round hole at 600 (as far as I've shot it) so I know there is more ground to get. I push it with 4831 but have had good luck with 4350 too. Was going to see if the 105 amax shot well in it but since they are going to suspend production of it......I bagged that Idea.

Send it back to Savage for a replacement barrel... I had one in 260 Rem, you could probably find that post.... Savage never fixed that problem, but replaced rifle with 6BR with even more issues ;-)

Why is Hornady suspending production of the 105? It's a great deer bullet.
