Here is my Dad's (30yrbrd) 30/375 S.I. All gunsmithing work done by Nathan Dagley at Straight Shot Gunsmithing.

Parts:

Remington 700 LA (originally a 300 RUM) trued up with a new PTG bolt handle tigged for proper timing and coated in titanium KG Kote.

Nate's "Tactical Traction" bolt knob, coated titanium.

Fluted bolt, flutes are coated black, the rest of the bolt is coated titanium.

Jewel Trigger.

Factory bottom metal, coated titanium.

.25" surface ground recoil lug pinned to action.

Brux 1:10 twist Remington Varmint contour finished at 26" chambered in 30/375 Sherman Improved (elkaholic's design) spiral fluted with the flutes coated black and rest of the barrel coated titanium.

Nate's 7/8" V port Vaporizer muzzle brake turned to match the barrel contour, and coated titanium.

Bell & Carlson Tactical Medalist (A2 style).

EGW 20 MOA one piece base.

Burris 30MM extreme tactical rings.

Sightron SIII 6-24x50 MOA-2 reticle. (Yet to be bought and installed, my Mom said no more money on guns until our house is sold, we have an offer on it and are waiting on an appraisal and inspection. :) )

Caldwell 9-13" pivot bipod with notched legs.

A special thanks to Rich (elkaholic) for letting me rent his reamer and go guage and answering all my questions (believe me, there were LOTS of them  ) and to Nathan for the awesome work, I am truly blown away by the attention to detail. All my future builds will go to him.

Nate said this was the tightest twist fluting he has ever done and i think it looks awesome!

I still have to inlet one small section of the stock around the shank of the barrel and fireform some brass using the COW method.

For more info on the cartridge, take a look at this thread: http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f19/new-30-375-wildcat-80853/ The first post on page 37 shows a picture of the forming process and the water capacities.

Enjoy, let me know what you think!

Wow Riley! That is one fine looking piece! I am so glad you chose my cartridge for your build and it has been my pleasure to work with you. You are truly an asset as a young up and comer in the shooting world. We need more kids like you:D........rich

Thanks for the compliment Rich, and the titanium was quite a bit darker than i thought it would be but turned out better IMO. I want to trim to 2.575" right? And i was taking some measurements and after fire forming the case should fit the turning mandrel perfectly. I will keep updating this thread as i get some rounds down range.

Beautiful! If it shoots like Rich's you will have the ultimate . . . good looks and a slayer!

Nice work!

I trim to 2.575" (.005") clearance because I think it keeps carbon build up down and it can't hurt accuracy. You can trim to 2.570" if you like. Your formed cases will likely measure an avg. of 2.583" + or -, so you will be able to keep your lengths consistent when you trim. Keep us posted with all your activities.......Rich

Yep! My brass measures 2.583-2.586. I will prolly be at 2.575. Cant wait to shoot it!

Nice, that is the first helical fluted barrel I've seen and liked, most are just so slow it looks odd. That should be a real death stick gun)

So, wonder how much your dad will get to shoot his rifle :D

I was really worried about the barrel fluting, so many different ways that i dont like, but i was pleasantly surprised. I will let him do the fire forming.:D

Riley, Thanks for talking me into rebuilding that 300rum. The gun looks great and I have no doubt you will work up a great load for ME to shoot. We will get a scope ordered as soon as we close on the house, would have done it already but mom pays the CC bill and it's tough to slip that by her.

Rich, Thanks for all the help and information you gave Riley to complete this project. Everyone on LRH has been so helpful with all his questions, I have no doubt that his career path will involve gun powder in one way or another.:)

P.S. The grass looks a little long in those pics, better get the garden tractor out.:D:D

Sure thing, but if i have to cut grass then i wont have time to get some brass ready for fire forming. :D
