I very much want a BAR in this chambering! I can't find one anywhere. The few online have been sold. I did find one through cabelas but they wanted an arm and a leg. I'd just like a good used one. Anybody?

Also any info on this rifle in this chambering would be great! They seem to be so few and far between. Any info would be awesome! Including loads for hunting, practical range, and bullet weight.

Why a BAR and not a bolt action?

That's what I'm wondering....

Why not buy an A-Bolt II or Rem 700 already chambered in .280 Rem, then have your local smith ream the chamber to .280 Ackley Improved. That would be an easier and more accurate alternative to the BAR.

I love hunting with BAR's!! I need the 280, 338 win mag, to have almost all of the chambering a they offer. I've had a 700 BDL in 280! Fine rifle! I traded it. However I'd now like to have a used one in bolt action as well. Simply to have it Ackley improved.

The only problem is that they only chambered the 280 rem for a year and a half maybe two. Makes them tough to find.

I suggest putting up a bunch of WTB ads in all the gun related classifieds. Someone out there must have one they are willing to part with.

Good luck!!

Killer advice Friend! Thanks! Of course.....ill need to build up the toy money, I'm gonna get a new bow tomorrow.

Two TOTALLY different purchases! As long as there is a 2000fps difference in projectile speed there shall be no household imposed waiting period. Pretty sure that is common law. Go for both!

Railroader,
I sent you a pm.
Just an idea!
I have 3 BARs including a 338 win and love them. They are all very accurate and great to hunt with.

Just got the message. Excellent idea! I love BAR's and really want one in 280. What would I need an old 30-06/270 BAR and then have the new barrel assembly installed to one of those standard length receivers? Do you handload your BAR's?

Yes,
Just get a nice rifle 270.30-06 and swap it out. It will be like an almost brand new 280!
If you decide to do it let us know.
I hand load for my 243 and 300wsm BAR s. but not for the 338 yet.
