Just got back from Cabelas and the racks are empty of every bullet for the .308 and I could count every box on the shelfs with my two hands.
No .223s, 7MAGS etc,,, the same old crap.
How in HADIES am I gonna do any loading with this problem?

Not sure what you are looking for but I picked up a couple boxes of 175gr SMK from cabelas on line a few days ago and just checked, they are still in stock.

Check online. Midway, Sinclair, and Grafs have all been getting decent inventory of bullets. I never used Grafs prior to the shortages of late, but they were referred by an LRH member and I was impressed with their pricing, inventory, and reasonable shipping. Worth taking a look if you haven't already.

Also check Third Generation Shooters Supply. They have a few varieties of .308 bullets on hand.

First off, forget Cabelas for anything unless you get it on points. Everything is overpriced, I mean everything. In as much as I'm about 2 miles from the store in Dundee and have a black card, I do get stuff there but on points only.

Secondly, whatever you do buy, if you buy anything (except the fudge:)), open the box and make sure what's on the box is whats inside. I always open the box or package and inspect the goods, always and I do it right in the store in front of anyone and everyone. Reason being (I happen to know one of the managers personally so this is a true statement)... Customers play bait and switch all the time, taking a more expensive item and putting it in a cheaper package, somethimes, not even a package with a comparable item, so, always check the contents. That happened to me a while back. I wanted a Harris 2 axis bi-pod (on points) and picked one off the rack. When I looked inside it wasn't a Harris, it was a Chinese clone.

Also, if you buy an optic, never buy one from the display cased, insist on one from the stockroom and one thats factory sealed. One of my customers bought was he was told was the last Nikon 223 specific scope they had. When I mounted it, the elevation was inoperable. Turns out, someone had focked it up, returned it to the store and they thoughtfully put it back out as new. The people at the return counter never look at anything except to see that it's intact. Most don't know a scope from a flashlight in thye first place.

On ammunition boxes, look inside. I was told by my friend thats it's common for customers to spit tobacco juice in ammo boxes, or gum or hale eaten candy.....

He told me that one time they were stocking after hours and a carton with a Rockchucker was partially opened. They looked inside and and a customer had stuffed a ****** diaper in the box.

In the shoe/boot department, wear your old clapped out shoes in, try on a pair of new shoes or boots and walk out.. with the new ones. From what I've been told, they have minimal security and expect the sales associates to monitor fraud. The cost of shoplifting and merchandise damage is built into the retail price which is why everything costs more besides the greed of the owners.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Cabelas Visa for a couple reasons, one, I have 2 cards, one business and one personal and two, they own their own bank (Foremost) so they carry their own paper and I don't deal with the nationwide banksters.

I can see why this country is in the shape it's in, a whole raft of 'citizens' need eliminated from the gene pool including some firearm owners and wannabees.

Your best be is Internet and out of state suppliers. Why pay Snyder for the privedledge of supporting a local business thats not local anyway. Besides, I think Snyder is a twit.

A little bit of rant but mostly facts about Cabelas....

The fudge is good however.....:D

***You sure didn't need to put that horse manure in your rant and if you condone that you're as bad or worse than the crook who would do that!

Not a rant at all. Just stating the facts. I don't believe in shoplifting or stealing or playing presto-chango with merchandise that don't belong to me.

I was brought up to respect other peoples property, sad fact that many people today don't give a shitte.

You need new shoes per chance??

Then why make that comment to suggest to others that it's a way they can steal easily from Cabelas, which is exactly what you did making that post?! No, wiseacre, I don't need any footware as I just bought a $200 pair of Danner Pronghorns at their new store in Grandville over here a few weeks ago!!! They may charge a little more for their stuff, but their no questions asked return policy is hard to beat. I also returned a pair of Irish Setters that were only six months old because the leather was splitting and the soles were already coming loose from the uppers. The lady at customer service brought my account up because I didn't have the receipt, found that I had purchased them when I told her, and then gave me a 100% refund on them.

He wasn't suggesting someone steal shoes. He was relaying what someone who works there had told him happens.

Find reputable on-line businesses that allow back orders, and aren't price gouging. Place your order and wait. It took me about a month, but I was able to get a good supply of powder and some bullets. I got product from 3rd Generation, Powder Valley, and Cabelas. Cabelas has powder on-line, even though the store shelves are empty but it is pricey. Larger powder/primer orders lessen the HazMat fee. I'm starting to see a few primers locally, so hopefully supply is catching up on these. Lesson learned, in the future I'll keep enough supplies on hand to weather the next run on product. Good Luck
