Need a GOOD load for the 25-06 using the 120grn SPEER or SIERRA!!!

Don't load the Sierras. But I use 59 Gn of Retumbo with 110 Nosler Accubonds and it is the best load I have ever found for my 25-06. 59 Gn this the max load with to 110 Accubond. So I would work up to it.

I think retumbo might work well with 120 gn bullets also.

Nosler reloading manual show a max load of 57.5 gn with Nosler 120 gn partitions.

H4831 shoots good in my 25-06. I could just never get any speed out of it.

If I had those powders I would at least give the 25 a try, as well as the 4831. The others might be a bit slow for it. I never tried the 25 in mine due to it not being out when I was working up loads.

To be honest I tried and tied to get the 120's up to breaking 3000 fps, it just never happened out of my 24" barrel. What I did find however was that with RL-22, lit with Win-WLR primers in both Rem and Win cases, I could get 3150fps with the 115gr Partition along with 1/2" groups at 200yds, so I settled for that and was happy. I never got the 120's over mid 2800fps no matter what powder or what seating depth I tried. Not to say that wasn't good enough as it was an awesome accurate load using the 120gr Speer or Hornady. Just that I was looking for speed with that accuracy and it simple wasn't there. The 115's gave me the best of both worlds and also held up on up close shots where the others failed miserably.

With the same load the 110gr Accubond will run right at 3200 and also gets the same size or slightly smaller groups.

Now in my AI version the 120's rule, but your not asking about them.

I don't know why, but with my 25 wssm I could hit 3100 fps with the 120 speer and rl easily. The accuracy was sub-par though. I do use h4350 with her to good effect at 2900 fps.

My pops is using I 4831 in his 25-06.

Dang it........my buddy did use RL22 in his Cooper forgot about that!. Will try the RL25, 22, IMR-4831, and Retumbo IF I can't get the 1st 2 to work.

Should be easy with RL25, has been for me!

Work up toward 52 grs H4831 with the 120's and you should find what your are looking for. If you can get some IMR or AA 4350 give 49 grs with CCI 250 primers a try. It really shoots lights out with the 120 grand slam Speer in my 25-06.
