Does any one make profit barrels for mod 70? Has any one changed barrel on mod 70. Mine is a push feed so according to McGowen it is straight forward rebarrel. Or best to send it to smith or barrel maker?

No such thing as a prefit barrel for a Model 70 unless it's one you just pulled off of your rifle. For a new barrel I recommend it fitted by a good smith. Preferably an accuracy specialist. I would avoid most of the barrel makers for install.

IMHO, it's best to get a blank barrel and have a competent/qualified gunsmith chamber, thread, and crown your barrel. You might also consider truing the action (if not already) when rebarreling.

http://www.pac-nor.com/prefit/ makes them.

From the PacNor site on pre fit barrels.
The prefit barrel comes to you completely contoured, polished, handlapped, threaded, chambered, & crowned with a short thread shank to be set back for proper head space: ready for you to have fitted to your action. (All prefit barrels should be fitted and headspaced only by a qualified and competent gunsmith.)

This is not truly prefit like you can do for a Savage. You need a lathe and gauges to install. A home user can't just thread it on and go shooting.

Keep in mind these are production fits. No where near the precision you get with one custom cut for your own action.

It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. If however you feel your response is required you can still do so.
