First let me say i like this site very much but,all these shots at long distances is NOT hunting, your shooting and its target practice. Ask a archer and those who stalk the there game, now thats hunting not practice. Seems we got caught up in a lot of PR, to sell folks new toys. Rich

Having been an "archer" for 57 years yes 57 I'm 64 and a bow hunter for the last 44 years I'll answer this way, I started bow hunting for the skill it takes to make a clean one shot one kill, and had a lot of success on several species of large and small game, and actually never hunted with a firearm for several years. As I got older and the draw weight kept going down,and pain from shoulder surgery kept going up. I started looking for something else that was a challenge. I came upon this site and after following all the post for more than a year and learning as much as I could decided to get in the game. As in archery long range hunting takes a dedication to practice as much as you can in as many varying conditions as you can to hone your skill, that is where the target practice as you call it comes in. The hunting aspect comes in when your spending days glassing and watching for the shot opportunity to come along hopefully you are waiting on the perfect broadside shoot just as in bow hunting. Knowing you have practiced at your comfortable range and knowing you have the skill to pull off the shot is when you pull the trigger and are rewarded with the one shot one kill. Are you going to wound an animal possibly (just as in bow hunting) do you hate it just as much absolutely, are you going to miss some shots probably, just as in, you guessed it (bow hunting). But then thats why they call it HUNTING and not shooting. Just my take on it, oh and by the way this site is called Long Range Hunting... Now I think I'm goin fishin
