just curious what the trajectory on a 30 grn vmax would be @200 yds.? found some info for a 40 gn @150 (5"or so). not looking to kill anything that far, just some paper. sighting my 25-06 @ 200 yds. this weekend and thought it would be fun to try my 22 mag while im waiting for the 06 to cool down. GO GATORS!

I have put 50+ whistle pigs to sleep with the 40g CCI they drop 2 mils at 200m. I would guess the faster 30g vmax will be right about the same.

I couldn't get the 30's to group for me, but the 40gr CCI's zerod at 100yds drop 6in at 150, and 14in at 200. Nothing special but i keep them within 3in at 150 and 6-7in at 200yds

I've got a Marlin 25mn with a USA weaver 4x. I'm wanting a variable scope. I would also like a drop reticle. I looked at a konus today with a drop reticle and side focus. Would that be a good scope? I have no experience with that brand.

Konus typically makes cheaper scopes. While they will work for a .22 mag with no issue, I would rather put my money in something solid.

For $100 more or so you could get a Nikon that is dedicated and offers the drop reticle you want. This NIKON ProStaff 3-9x40 Rifle Scope, BDC Reticle, Matte Black (6722) would be my choice, because with the spot on program that is free on Nikon's website you can enter your rifle and round information and find out exactly what yardage each BDC mark is set for.

That sounds like a more reliable product. I definitely want reliability. I also forgot about the spot on program. Will that program also work for the new 17 win super mag? I'm gonna pick my super mag it just came in. Just wonder if the program would work with a new cartridge (rimfire)?

i to wasnt impressed with the v-maxs either, but didnt bring anything else to try. will try that this weekend when i go back to the range, 40 grn jhps that is. also looking at getting the nikon, i have a leupold 2.5x7 on it now, but would like to have the 40 mil lens and the BDC!

I just opened up the Spot on software, and it does include the 17 winchester super mag, and offers a reading for the Nikon scopes.

I was surprised this week I went out to range to try the 300 yd range they
just put in, I had my .22 mag and my .223, after shooting both at the 100 yds
first I moved to 300 yd for kicks I thought I'd give the Savage 93 .22 Mag with 30gr. Vmaxs and only a 3-9X40 BDC on it a try,
I was able to get on the target after about ten rounds of shooting... that was cool.
