I loaded some 230 bergers .743 bc

rem brass 215 match primer 89gr retumbo at 3.9 length

3 shots fired smooth with no pressure signs at all

1. 2971
2. 2983
3. 2977

My goal was 3k fps which looks like it will be easy to get there, I will shoot some paper soon and see how they group. Shot out of a sendero with DE brake ( Thank you Shawn ) awesome job and nxs scope 26" SENDERO tube. Do these velocities look normal to you guys. I was expecting about 2850 fps. Looks like 20.7 moa @ 1K yards 2018 fps and 51.2 moa @ 1760 yards 1442 fps and 64.3 moa @ 2000 yards 1300 fps. At 1k yards still has 2081 ftlbs of energy plenty for elk.

That's very encouraging because I plan on running those out of my 300 Jazz. Thanks for sharing.

My load with the 230's out of a 27" select match HV barrel is 89.5 Retumbo( Fed 215 large magnum match primers) getting 3000 just touching the lands. I am going to be playing with seating depth today trying 5-10-15-20 out and 5-10 in to see how the groups play out. Right now I am under 1/2 but I know the gun can do better and has with the 208 Amax.gun)

I thought the 230s were supposed to not be finicky with seating depth. I hope they shoot good out of my sendero. I usually shoot the 208 amax but i wouldnt try to kill an elk with them.

.410 inch groups at 100 yds with 89.5 gr retumbo, just over 3k fps they shot better at 90 gr but started showing pressure signs ejector marks on brass. Shooting about a 3ft dia rock at 1215 yards they hit with authority.gun)

What dies are you guys using for the 230s? I have a rcbs rock chucker supreme reloading kit and was going to get the rcbs dies to go with it. Will this setup work or do the 230s require a special seating die? Do you full length or just neck size?

Also, how do you work up a load for your 230s? I was planning on finding my max coal and max charge, then seeing how it groups. And then play with seating if I need to for better accuracy. Am I on the right track?

Thanks for any help!
