Im trying to decide if I want to go ahead and get a 20MOA base to be able to adjust to 1K+ YDS. Whats important to me is to be able to adjust down to 100YDS as well. I put a little table together. Does it make sense to you guys??I know lots of people here have experience with this. I'm making an assumption that the turret will be in the middle of adjustment range at 100YDS so roughly at 32MOA (65MOA total). The number are approx (+/- 2MOA) from Strelok+. Thanks,

Makes sense to me,! That's what I did. I had a 40moa rail on my 338 Edge, and I have a Leupold MK4 with a total of 70 moa. Since half is 35, and I still want a 100yd zero, I sold it and got a 15 moa rail. When I get good enough past 600 yards, then I will worry about putting a 30 moa rail on it to maximize my distance!gun)

I set one up with a 20 moa base and when zeroed at 100 yards I have enough adjustment to go way past 1000 yards. The specs are just a rough guide it's all about how it actually sets up on your rifle. 2 rem 700's with exact base, rings ,scopes could have quite abit different amounts of adjustment.

You do realize that the HD5 only has 16.5 MOA of up travel with the zero stop in place. If you remove the zero stop then you get the full travel of the scope but end up scratching your head as to where zero is when coming back down. Ziess really screwed this one up.

There is a really good thread on this forum that covers it all.

Yeah I know. It's not really an issue for me. The most I'm going to adjust is turn and a half to get to 1k. I think I can remember to stop at the second time zero comes around.

You are right. The 500 zero is at 35MOA. So there is 30MOA UP avail and I only need about 25MOA to get to 1000yds so no new base needed. Thanks
