I'm going to give the 215 grain bergers a try in my factory sendero ive got 8 lb of h1000 to work with and a bunch of new norma brass. Does anyone shoot the 215s in a win mag? how far off the lands do hybrids like to be? what kinda of FPS should i expect out of the factory 26in tube?

Thanks for all the help

Not using the same powder as you but mine likes .020 off give or take a few. I'm hitting 2850 with 7828 and a 26" barrel. Your milage may vary.............

I can't tell you how far off the lands I am. I just set them at mag length. My gunsmith modified my mag to give me more room but I'm still not out to the lands. I started at 73 grains of H1000 (using Fed. 215 primers and Norma brass). I worked up to 77 grains and got a slight ejector mark. Shooting one each of 74, 75, and 76 gave me a group under 1/2 MOA. 3 shot groups of each of those loads each printed right at 1/2 MOA. I'm loading those 3 loads up and will test at 500 and 1000 and check for vertical dispersion. Sorry I can't help with the seating depth but I've shot the 180 hybrids in my 7mm Mag and now these and neither seemed to care how for off the lands they were.

I haven't been able to get my hands on these yet but plan to. what was your velocity and powder charge diference from the 210 berger?

I am at 3035 fps @ 4100 ft' als from a 28" Broughton 5C tube. I settled at 1 gr less than I was with the 210's and got 40 fps more mv.

I loaded some for an experiment in
My 300 win mag ( model 70 winchester classic style)just to see the velocity compared to my buddy's ultra mag. I just picked 50 thou off cause that's where the first bullet seated. Worked up a load with h-1000 and 215 primers. Ended up at 78 gr. with no pressure signs and was at 2950 fps. And they day we were shooting was pretty miserable there were times you couldn't see the target at 100 yards due to the blowing snow. And all 12 shots went into an inch

Well loaded four sets of three to try today started .040 off the lands last three shot group was with 77 grains of h1000 no pressure signs yet and shot great clover leafed at a 100 yards. 77 graind was the hottest i tried they seemed to shoot better the hotter they were loaded. Here is the only thing i don't like my es was 51 fps for the three av ended up being 2841 which im happy with just need to get the es down a little. Part of it could have been fire forming brand new norma brass. I think ill load some at 77 in fire formed brass and see what happens. Might try some at 77.2 and 77.5 to see what happens. Any thoughts on getting the es down? This is out of a factory sendero tube.

shooting chrony beta master, federal 215m, and chrony was 10 feet from muzzle.

Move the chrono out to at least 18' and shoot again. Also, a group of 5, allowing cool time between shots, at 800 yards would give you a more accurate evaluation of ES by measuring verticle than a Chrony.

Just food for thought. That load you are shooting I have used in Sendero's before with no issues. Just making sure it was not bad info from the chrony.
