I finally got a chance to hit a mile with my 338 lapua. It took 3 shots to get on then I had 9 hits. I had to hang it it up when I got a stuck case.

I'm with Mike, what are your rifles specs and target size. Good shooting nonetheless. Wish I had somehwere I could shoot a mile with my .338 lapua furthest range around is 1,000 yards.

Stuck case makes me believe a savage rifle with Hornady brass. I keep hearing more and more about that. 9 consecutive hits at a mile is no joke though great shooting.

my rifle is a savage 110 hs with a vortex viper scope. I was shooting a 2'x2' steel plate no pics of the plate though. I am using lapua brass with 300 grain bergers and have noticed that it starts to get sticky when it starts to get hot. I should have let it cool more but was having so much fun. I am considering getting a 30" broughton 5c barrel here pretty soon

I have the same set up. Savage 110 Fcp in .338 lapua I changed my stock to a manners t5 and have a vortex viper pst ffp 6-24x50 on it as well. My gun wouldn't shoot the bergers at all. The SMK's are what it likes combined with 92.0 grains of h1000 and it is a deadl combo.

I have been thinking about swapping sticks as well but with a blank costing 350 ish and another 250-300 in gunsmith work it is a hair pricey for a gun that already shoots. I was thinking 30-32" bartlein 1-9.3 twist.

Keep me posted if you swap barrels. Would like to hear what that barrel will do for you.

I am also considering putting a different tube on our 338 Lapua, thinking a shilen select match with the ratchet rifling and a CSR brake.

I love the 30"select grade match brux I put on mine walk her out to 2005 regulaly with sub moa accuracy shoots abot 1/4 moa at 950 consistantly have put up to 100 rounds through it with little to no copper fouling and accuracy is as good on the last shot as the first.

Lorenzo Young (grit on here) at deadly presision did the work on mine trued and bedded action new recoil lug and new tube with a badger ordanace break she will one hole the 300 smk at 100 with 89.6 grains at 2800 fps

Jordan,

If you do not mind me asking or can PM me, what did the truing work cost and consist of? And what was the cost of Lorenzo chambering and threading the tube for a brake? Also, what was the turn around?

Thanks,

Brandon

You guys are getting me wanting again. I would have to sell rifles for enough money to make my .338wm sing at 1500-2000 yds.? It's a Browning Stalker w/Boss and Synthetic. I had ordered stainless and put on lay-a-way, when paid last and picked up they gave me blue. That's been years now but rifle still has factory oil & never been shot. How much would it cost to make it shoot? I may never use my Alpine Silverado again either sense I can't pull it anymore :-(

Thank you guys for all I have learned so far and intend to as time goes on. Been in/out of hospital many times the last couple months so forgive my late paying to those waiting. PM me if I still owe for stuff as I am very forgetfull on these meds. Still need those 338 bullets in ammo can if avaialable? Sorry again, JASTECH

Wow that's impressive. I am building a 338 378wby on a savage 110 with a 34 in LIlja barrel. Hope to be shooting within 3 months . I am new here, but have been reading lrh for a while. Learning a lot. Hope to eventually get out that far!

That's way to much cartridge and barrel for a savage 110.
You might want to look into a custom action for that build
and talk to a smith.
