Mine should be back from getting a new pipe in a week or so, had my order for a rebuild with Dtec for almost exactly a year now.
It MAY be up for sale, but its not going to be cheap.

Is that picture your gun?
yeah but that's a few years ago.

It's on the way back from Dtec with a new barrel (that needs coated)
New forend, that will get coated and new optics.
I'll probably strip it all down to blank, and re-cerakote the works, just to keep it fresh.

Here it was a couple years ago, with cheap optics and a 1:9 twist.
It's being re-built with a 1:8 twist at a 22" finish length, threaded 5/8x24 with low profile PRI adjustable gas block and 15" YHM Todd Jarrett hand guard.

(pretty cheesy video, but it was a few years ago)

What were you thinking when you wanted your AR to be chambered in .243WSSM? What a barrel burner and not very accurate either. A much better round would be a 6MM Norma BR. You get at least 2,000 rounds before you start loosing accuracy. Here are some of my targets with my 6MM Norma BR.

The 3/8" is at 200 yds.
The 1+3/4" is at 400 yds.
The last is three 5 shot groups at 1,000 yds. scores & group sizes are in lower right. Perfect score is 50 points for each group.

PS: I have owned .243 WSSMs and have had a lot of experience with them. YUCK!

Well that's complete nonsense.
Barrel burner? No.
Not very accurate? No.

Get it built right and shoot the right bullet for the caliber and you'll get an accurate 2000 rounds easy.

Maybe you will get 2000 out of a titanium barrel. Winchester had to chrome plate the chambers and inside the barrels to get more than 500 accurate rounds. If you don't believe me call Winchester and they will tell you. I don't think anyone even makes any WSSM rifles any more. It was a good idea, but it didn't pan out. I have never seen a bolt gun consistently group less than 5/8" five shot groups at 100 yds.

Mine consistently groups in the .1s & .2s and my best 100 yd. 5 shot group was .084" with .105 gr. Berger VLDs. That is accurate shooting. With a little adjustment to the top lips of a .223 magazine and the 6MM Norma BR. will work in a M4 lower. Just chamber and bore the barrel for 6MM Norma BR. and you will have a very competitive bench rest rifle and might be possible to shoot less than 3" five shot groups at 1,000 yds. with it. Then you would have something to really have fun with.

Oh, my best 1,000 yd. group was 3+1/4" and I am not even competitive at 1,000 yds.

The WSSMs are not capable of that kind of accuracy.

Neither are the 7mm STWs:rolleyes:

Just because you couldn't muster it or have never seen anyone that did...doesn't make it true. You're comparing a flock of factory rifles to your custom built one? Not really apples to apples is it?

I sent more than 1500 rounds through mine and was still able to manage sub 1/2 MOA at 800 yds. Is that bench accurate? Absolutely not...but is it better than 75% of semi-auto hunting rifles? Hell yes it is.
I upgraded to a faster twist to run heavier bullets and have NO DOUBT that this barrel will last longer than the first.

I'm not suggesting that the WSSM it is a MORE accurate round that anything else.
But people like you that **** on a guys thread are nothing more than trolls.
He wanted info about a topic and you roll up and basically tell him he's a dip ****. His ideas suck and yours are so much better.

It's a gun, it's a tool, and it's his choice to make. Maybe he's strictly looking for velocity, maybe he plans to hunt with it, maybe he already has a bolt action in this caliber and plans to use the same ammo.
Regardless, he's looking and you don't have one to offer.

Go make a thread about the infanite awesomeness of your caliber of choice and I'll be happy to stop buy and Ohhhh and Ahhhhhhh at your discoveries. I love reading about guys that push the limits.

The wssm cartridges can and are very accurate. My completely factory stealth II 243 WSSM will shoot 3/8" 5 shot groups all day long, sub 1/2" 10rd groups all day long. Of course I won't win a competition with the rifle but for not sorting brass, minimal load work up and rapid firing 58gr vmaxs I would say that is a hell of a combo.

I stand corrected guys. I have tried to get my Winchester Coyote .243 WSSM to shoot accurate and the best I could do was 5/8" 5 shot groups. The only way it would shoot that good was to put a lot of pressure on top of the scope. I have also read in a shooting magazine (with pictures) where people were screwing kitchen cabinet door handles under their forearms to pull down on when shooting. I shot out a .243 Douglas match barrel in 3,000 rounds. I cut the barrel in half length wise to see what was wrong and found out the rifling was completely burnt out for the first 8 inches past the chamber. When that .243 was new it would shoot 5 shot 1/4" consistently. When I cut the barrel in half it was only shooting 3/4" groups. I guess that wasn't to bad since it had an eight inch free bore. I did call the factory about the WSSMs and they told me that every barrel that left them was chrome plated because of the burning of the inside of the barrels past 500 rounds.

I am glad you are getting such good shooting WSSMs. If you have a barrel with 2,000 rounds through it have it cut in half lengthwise to see how long the free bore is. I think it will amaze you.

I pulled the 1:9 twist barrel over a year ago to re-barrel with a faster twist. It was still shooting just fine and dandy, but I didn't feel comfortable shooting 105 Bergers through my suppressor with a barrel that wasn't as fast as Berger recommends.
They flew strait, and were not tumbling...but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't get one that wobbled some day, especially shooting in frigid winter hunting temps.
I bore scoped it in Spearfish when I took it off and I had roughly 5/8 of erosion and about 3" of fire cracks.
I still have it (the barrel) but plan to cut the chamber off, and rechamber it to a 6x45 with a carbine gas system, so I'm not going to just waste it.
Those rounds were using almost all 75gr Vmax going relatively slow for the weight...only about 3200 fps, so I see no reason why 105 Amax going the same speed won't yield similar barrel life.

There are MANY documented instances of a barrel leaving the facility without the barrel being chrome lined. Before the WSSMzone.com got closed down for spam...there were many knowledgeable individuals there that found more than a few factory rifles that slipped out the doors without chrome. It happens.
There were many more that had plenty of documented round counts and bragging rights for their accuracy.
Many were custom builds, but not all of them.

Mike and Dedicated Technologies is well known for producing some of the most accurate WSSM AR15's in the nation and that's why I went to him for my re-barrel job.
I'm still working up a loads for it, but I'm excited to see how it will shoot.

My cousin runs a custom built 6XC in a Rem 700 and THAT baby can shoot...but I'm expecting to do AS GOOD, with my gasser.

Love it! I got completely off of the sniper's hide forums because it filled up with "so called" 1000 yard bench rest know it alls. This is long range hunting. Not paper punching. Go get on a bench rest forum if you want to talk about that ****. I have a theory that the reason we find so many bench rest guys on forums like this is because they can't even stand each other enough to make their own **** site. If someone ever walks up to me and says "barrel burner" I'm gonna punch'em in the chest. It's my money, if I want to burn up a barrel, so be it. I bet you I have fun doing it.

Anyway, I digress. I have a Dtech upper in .25 WSSM. It is absolutely awesome. Mike Milli is a true artist. It was worth every minute of the 16 months it took to get it.
