Sounds fast, but nice vel, and group..

that's what I thought I was expecting 2800 and I don't know when it happens bit the elite hunters leave jackets about 150 yards and I mean I found 3 out of 5 jackets within 10-15 feet of eachother

That's smoking, what chronograph and what altitude?

I just finished load work up on a 338 EDGE with a 29 3/4" hart 1 in 10 barrel. I got 2837 fps average with 92.5 gr of H-1000 and a CCI 250's with the 300 OTM's.

This was from an Oehler 35 chronograph 18' from the muzzle and 4100' ASL

Thanks'
Jeff

This is sounding like what some were seeing with the with the Gen 1's when using tight twist tubes and velocity over 2850.

How deep is your rifling scribing the jackets? Is it by chance a 3 grove?

Jeff

as far as the rifling depth goes in not sure but I can clearly see it and it is a 4 groove.. The chronograph is a chrony on a bright sunny day at 1100 ft

Well, I will cast an opinion for what it's worth. I think you have created a perfect storm. High velocity, 4 grove with deep scribing and a fast twist rate. The bullets are damaged in the tube from all this. I would recommend you go to the 300 OTM's. Their jacket is a little thicker and I think they will serve you much better.

Jeff

That velocity of 2970 is at least 100 FPS faster than I would expect out of your load. It will be interesting to see how that works with drops when you take it to 800 plus.
