Hello from Alaska

Hey Bob,
I am wanting to come to Alaska, but have to wait till retire from my job here in Florida. I am new to LRH, but have the gun a 7mm rem mag just need to give it a new scope. I am looking at a Vortex Viper 4-16x50, just need to save my penny's.

Hi Phil,

wow great minds think alike. I just bought a Vortex Viper 6.5 x 20 x 44 off a forum up here in Alaska for 200.00. Great scope. Matched it up with a LaRue LT-104 and let me tell you that is one sweet set up. Always returns to zero and lets me protect my scope while traveling around.

I have been here 36 years and probably have only seen little over half of it. I suggest looking at the cruse ships that will be coming up here when you decided to come. They have buses and train trips that will get you out and let you see a good part of the state for the amount of time you have allotted for yourself.

Take care and you will enjoy Alaska when you do get up here. Just bring warm clothing, its a little cooler than Florida.

Hi Phil,
You can bring long guns through Canada without any problem unless they changed their laws recently. Handguns you will need to send to yourself.

I live down on the Kenai Peninsula down by Homer, which is at the end of the road on the Sterling Hwy. When do you plan on retiring? And by all means we should get together, and if I don't have time to show you around I can at least point you in the right direction.

Bob,
We just plan to drive, as we have looked into the ship deal and we were thinking it is just to short and to many people. As to when we retire it is going to be a few years. We look at all the Alaska tv shows and know where you are as we have seen your end of the road. The last time I checked the web it was A Real Pain to bring guns through Canada, but when we get ready we will check it all out. Anyway hope you have a Good Winter and hope it doesn't get to Cold.....
