I am interested in doing a public land/self guided hunt for antelope, with myself wanting to get one with a rifle and my friend wants to get one with a bow.....as close to MI as I can get...do you guys have some suggestions?
dakotas worth pursueing?

Close to Michigan and antelope don't really go together. Do some Internet scouting, you don't have to buy gas for that.

Use the search in the top left search the scream name "BuffaloBob", great guy awesome advice and he has laid out how to do this time and time again for lots of guys. Again do not use the search function in the tool bar use the google search in the top right.

Thanks for the info, I will check it out, I have traveled out to CO and WY for elk, just trying to minimize the distance traveled.

Anxious to use my 6.5 Grendel on one of these speed goats!

You really need to figure on going back to Wyoming if you want a decent chance at an antelope since the Dakotas aren't issuing licenses and eastern Montana will be years before the herds recover from the bad winter a couple years ago. Buy a PP this year between 7/1-9/30 and be ready to apply for wherever your research leads you, but I'll give you a hint that unit 27 can probably be had with 1PP and there is plenty of public land with nice animal populations.

I would listen to what TopGun says. A couple of years ago, he helped me tremedously with my first DIY public land speed goat hunt in WY. I had never been hunting out west before this trip. His knowledge of the rules, regs and areas out therehelped me and my hunting party get two speed goat bucks down in the first 10hrs we were there and a third one two days later. And good bucks for a first time public land hunt.

I will agree with Topgun that WY seems to be a very good place at a high chance of getting a tag and baggin a buck on public land.

Wyoming is the place to go for goats. They cut a lot of tags this year so drawing one will be a little tougher but still the best state for DIY antelope.
