I may be able to swap my 16'' .308 upper for a 24'' .308 bull barrel. My upper is brand new but the 24'' is used so I wonder how many rounds the 24'' will be good for before accuracey drops off ? I have no ideah about this and was hoping you guys could give me some advice . Thanks for looking...

Accuracy dropping off is a moving target. the 308 cartridge isn't particularly hard on barrels. You do however, have to define what you expect your barrel do. If what you're after is being able to put one round into the vital organs of a big game animal at the balistic limits of the .308 winchester cartridge, then you will be using that barrel FOR A VERY LONG TIME. If half moa accuracy with a prepped hand load is what you are looking for, then about 3500 rounds is what you can expect depending on the quality and condition of the barrel. If about 1 to 1.25 MOA will meet your needs then you can expect around 8000 rounds. To put that into perspective a 9" pie plate at 600 yards is about 1.5 moa.
