6.5 sherman range report

Here is one of the latest range reports on the 6.5 Sherman. This group was shot today by one of the forum members with his recent build. He told me he was going for max case life and shot this outstanding group. Harv is kind of a humble guy and is obviously a good shot.........Rich

Ya, it will reach 3200' but I run my hunting loads around 3150' with good accuracy. This was a really mild load Harv was shooting. He said he thinks he is ready for N.D. coyotes.......Rich

He better be!! The population of them buggers exploded since about 2 years ago. Awesome shooting, i want one of each of the Shermins!

After seeing that group I thought I would see what it would do in my rifle.

That went rather well except for the fourth shot
So I wondered if this load would work good for other bullets.
140 Berger

The 130 Accubomb has given me fits so I thought it wouldn't hurt to try it also. Best ever with it!

Lastly I have been playing with a 142 Matrix. May have found a new favorite

It seems to be a very good load all around.
(gotta work on the trigger puller some)

Nice to hear from you Cliff and good shooting as well! It looks like the Matrix is a shooter alright. I can't wait to try some 160's in my new 6.5 SS.......Rich

Hers is a pic of the bullets for a comparison.
140 Berger Hybrid (The gold standard)
142 Matrix-the most accurate bullet I have shot to date.
160 Matrix- bullet for the 2013 hunting season.
I don't think I have got the best from this
bullet yet. Have all summer to fine tune things.
155 Cauterucio- bullet for the 2012 season. Never got a
chance to take anything long range, but
did finish the season with no misses


Last group shot with the 160 at 1450yds. Nasty variable wind, 2 sighters and 4 on target.
