I still fairly new to reloading and i'm ready to start working up a load for my abolt 300 wsm. these will be used mainly for deer and hog hunting out to about 500-600 yds. i picked up some hornady 165g. btsp as i have always had good luck hunting with this bullet in other calibers.

i currently have hodgdon superformance, RL 19, IMR 4831 and Win 760.
I will be starting with Winchester brass and WLRM primers.

I don't have seating depth gauge yet so i will be loading to book col.

any help with a good place to start would be appreciated, thanks, and have a good evening.

thanks for the help, just curious, looking in the hornady book i see that with WIN 760 69.1g is max. at 64.5 were you getting the best accracy or did you start getting pressure signs? thanks,

I have loaded 165 gr accubonds using both W760 and Superformance. COL is just a hair under my mag length at 2.947. Win brass and WMLR primers.

W760 - 65 grains, and primers are just showing flatness

Superformance - 71.2 grains.

Both shot well. Only round I have that doesn't hate superformance powder!

Start low and work up!

My rifle has a short throat, that can be common is short action rounds.I cannot load mine as hot as some reloaders do or as high some manuals show as max loads. The velocity and accuracy is there, but it is the only rifle I own that I cannot load to what most books show as max and this round is loaded to a high pressure. If it had a little more freebore I could, but I have to seat my bullets a little deeper to avoid a pressure spike. It is the perfect example of why you start lower and work your way up.A chronograph is another good reloading tool to let you know where you're at.

Well i went ahead and loaded up some with the superformance, just want to see how it shoots this saturday, I loaded 66-69g in .5g incraments with the hornady 165g btsp . i will probally try the win760 this sunday and compare the two and see what direction to go from there. thanks for the help and i'll post how it goes. Thanks again for the help
