375 rum

[Ludicrous]

Anyone shoot and reload for this caliber? Read a little about it and recently have been looking for rifles and reloading components. Seems both are hard to come by. What's the story on this caliber? Also just how "tame" can you reload the cartridge? (deer-hog?)

The 375 rum looks rather discontinued to me. I'm sure rem will put out the semi-custom rifles in this cal. for years, but they aren't putting out the regular ones out in it or the 7rum anymore. I have a 375h&h and it is great, but you aren't going to use that cal for long range at either rifles balistics. You gain 200 fps from the 375h&h to the U, but your recoil goes up a lot for those 200 fps. It still is a 300 yard or less round so go with the h&h, as you can find ammo for it anywhere.

I have down loaded it with 225 Hornady bullets and AA5744 powder and used it on deer. Load I used is near 2700 fps.

rem case, rem 9.5M primer, 96 gr IMR4350, 260 gr Accubond, OAL 3.630 --3 shots touching at 100 yds, 3050 fps. I was getting good groups also with H 4831 SC with the 260AB at about 2800fps.

Iam sort of new to the long range game. My brother just sold me his 375 rem mag . I live in NY and I herd mixed things about this cal. I guess I could always sell it. I got sixity rounds factory that came w/ it. Anybody know where I could sell it.

I have done a little looking into the 375 rum and come to the conclusion: With a high bc bullet like the 350 smk loaded in a proper long barreled, long range rifle it should compete with a modest loaded 338 edge but cost more to shoot and finding brass would be more of a pain. The only gains over a 338 would be energy and maybe a slight increase in barrel life but both of those are areas the 338 edge is not lacking. Either way it could easily be a 1400yrd + rifle, but an expensive way to do it unless your hunting elephant, trying to stop a truck or something and requiring more than a 338.
