I have a short action 22-250 savage model 10. Can i build a 7 mm wsm out of this actoin. Looking to shoot like 140 gr for coueswhitetail and az mully's . Will it feed ok need advice! Thanks

If someone makes a standard (small) shank barrel in that caliber.
Most of the short magnum calibers are large shank barrels from Savage.
You will also need to change the bolt head, follower, and magazine box to properly feed those cartridges.

Are you sure you want a 7 wsm to hut these smallish deer?
7 wsm is a beast in a light rifle. And I cut teeth an a 300 win mag. :D

How about a 284 win? Same bolt face. I don't know if you can find one
in a small shank but it's worth a try. lightbulb
Or a 6.5 x 284, lots of load data many good bullets.
Or maybe a 6mm something.
It will do the job and be a lot more fun to shoot recoil wise.

Just sayin'

I really would like to do a 6.5 284 but that requires a long action doesn't it?

If you choose the long 140 gr target bullets, yes.

If you choose the Nosler AB or BT or similar, no.
Barnes TSX are OK with a jump or loaded to mag length also.

In any case seating the bullets deeper in the case won't hurt you in a hunting rifle. Some of the 123 gr bullets will work beautifully for
your stated purpose.

Ok thanks. It will be a hunting only rifle. My buddy shot the 140 gr target bullets this year and i didn't like them at all. I will look into it and see what i can do. Thank you very much and i would much rather have the 6.5 284
